🚨SHOOTING IN DELAND SUSPECT ARRESTED, VICTIM IN CRITICAL CONDITION🚨

Chaos erupted early this morning in the 1500 block of West New York Avenue, where deputies and DeLand Police raced to a reported shooting just after 5 a.m.

Units arrived to find a 47-year-old male victim lying in the carport, conscious but badly wounded with gunshot wounds to the face and hip. Deputies, police, and EMS worked urgently to control the bleeding before rushing him to a local hospital as a trauma alert. He was later listed in critical but stable condition.

The suspected shooter — identified as 41-year-old Anselmo Salazar Colin — was detained on scene without incident. Witnesses who fled the gunfire were located at the nearby Winn-Dixie parking lot, where investigators began piecing together the events of the night.

According to detectives, the shooting stemmed from a night of drinking between the suspect and his roommate, which escalated into violence.

🚨UPDATE: SUSPECT NOW FACING MAJOR CHARGES

Investigators have confirmed the shooter has now been arrested on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault, along with active warrants for transmission of harmful material to a minor.

The defendant is currently being held with no bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
Due to his status as an undocumented immigrant, ICE has been notified of his arrest.

VSO detectives responded to multiple locations related to the case, including a pickup truck spotted near a nearby grocery store, believed to have been in the area when the shooting unfolded. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

🚨UPDATE: ARMED SUSPECT CAPTURED AFTER MULTI-DAY MANHUNT IN DELEON SPRINGS🚨

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 37-year-old Earl Dorey is now in custody following an extended stay in the swamps surrounding DeLeon Springs State Park.

Dorey originally fled from deputies on Wednesday while driving a stolen Ford F-150, bailing out near the park after pointing a firearm at pursuing deputies. At one point, he reportedly turned the gun on himself before disappearing deeper into the swamp.

This afternoon, a VSO K-9 unit successfully located and apprehended Dorey, ending the search. Despite days in the swamp, Dorey’s only complaints were that he was thirsty and his legs were hurting. He is being transported to the hospital for evaluation and will later be booked into the Volusia County Jail.

Dorey faces a long list of charges, including:
• Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (x2)
• Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
• Fleeing and eluding law enforcement
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Multiple outstanding warrants

Two additional occupants from the vehicle were previously taken into custody.

🚨ARMED SUSPECTS FLEE TRAFFIC STOP FORCE CLOSURE OF DELEON SPRINGS STATE PARK🚨

DeLeon Springs State Park was temporarily closed Wednesday after armed suspects fled from a traffic stop and ran into the park, prompting a large law enforcement response, authorities said.

A park employee confirmed the closure, citing safety concerns, but declined to provide additional details.

An armored vehicle, SWAT team, and multiple patrol units — including officers from the DeLand Police Department — surrounded the park entrance as a helicopter circled overhead. Ground teams searched wooded areas and trails near the north end of the park, and a command post was established nearby.

According to law enforcement radio traffic, officers initiated a traffic stop on a stolen Ford F-150 when the driver, described as a Black male, reportedly brandished a firearm and fled on foot into the park. Deputies said the driver is known to law enforcement and has multiple open warrants, including for fleeing and eluding police in prior incidents.

At least three people were believed to have fled from the truck. During the search, officers located a pair of pants discarded in a swampy area.

At approximately 2:52 p.m., a woman was detained and turned over to authorities at the command post. Investigators said she initially refused to answer questions about other suspects.

By late afternoon, a Volusia Sheriff’s Office helicopter was observed circling above nearby Chuck Lennon Park before requesting fuel support. A Seminole County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was called in to assist.

Around 5 p.m., law enforcement radio described the outstanding male suspect as barefoot and missing clothing, believed to still be hiding in the swampy terrain of the park. As of this report, the driver has not been located.

Authorities have not yet released details about additional arrests or injuries.

‼ILLINOIS MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR HOMICIDE, RECKLESS DRIVING‼

A man from Port Barrington, Illinois, has been charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury after a deadly crash in Volusia County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the charges against 63-year-old Scott March stem from a Nov. 1 crash on FL-A1A/Ocean Shore Boulevard near Sandpiper Ridge Drive. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. in an area with a posted 45-mph speed limit.

Investigators said March attempted to pass an Ohio driver traveling in a Jeep in a no-passing zone when he struck the back left of the vehicle. The impact caused the Jeep’s driver a 72-year-old man, and his passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Ormond Beach, to be ejected.
Following that arrest, FHP announced that March would also face charges in connection with the fatal crash.
The Ohio man died at the scene, while the woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition. FHP said neither occupant of the Jeep was wearing a seat belt. March suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital.

Hours before the charges were filed, Daytona Beach Police arrested March for loitering and prowling in an unrelated incident. According to an arrest affidavit, officers found him on the deck of a large boat. March claimed ownership but could not provide documentation to prove it.

Following that arrest, FHP announced March would also face charges in connection with the fatal crash.

Authorities said March’s toxicology results are still pending. His vehicle, a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette, had reportedly been recently purchased.

FHP added that no further charges will be filed until the agency’s traffic homicide investigation is complete.

The identity of the Ohio driver has not yet been released.

‼FATAL CRASH ON A1A ILLEGAL PASS KILLS JEEP DRIVER‼

Troopers said the Corvette’s driver, who had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.160, was taken to Halifax Health with minor injuries. He is expected to face vehicular manslaughter and DUI-related charges. Investigators noted the vehicle had been purchased just two days before the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette driven by a male driver attempted to pass a 2016 Jeep Wrangler in a no-passing zone. The front right side of the Corvette struck the rear left of the Jeep, causing it to overturn. Both occupants of the Jeep were ejected.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was airlifted by Air One to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

🔥WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE🔥

Firefighters responded to a reported house fire in Deltona this afternoon after 911 dispatchers initially received only cross streets instead of a full address. A visible column of black smoke guided responding units toward the scene as emergency personnel approached.

A Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputy was first to arrive and provided an initial size-up to incoming fire units. Once fire crews arrived, the possible structure fire was confirmed at 2979 Keesler Street, where they found the home partially involved with heavy fire and thick smoke coming from the rear of the structure.

Crews began an aggressive fire attack, starting with 1¾-inch front bumper lines before upgrading to 2½-inch hose lines to gain control of the blaze. The fire was brought under control in a timely manner, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.

🔥MVA WITH ROLLOVER AND FIRE FROM VEHICLE🔥

This Evening, Units from Battalion 67, Squad/Engine 68, Engine 62, Engine 61, and Medic 238 were dispatched to a reported rollover crash with possible entrapment and fire at the 106 westbound mile marker on I-4.

Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle occupants had self-extricated. A female passenger was transported by Medic 238 to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford for treatment and overall evaluation.

Information that we received from some followers is that the wrecked vehicle was driving well over 115+mph.

That amount of speed is extremely dangerous, and the driver can be arrested and face charges for

Florida's "Super Speeder" law creates a criminal offense for driving 50 mph or more over the posted speed limit or driving 100 mph or more.

🔥GOLF CART CHARGER BLAMED FOR GARAGE FIRE🔥

Fire crews from DeLand, Orange City, and Volusia County responded Friday afternoon to a reported structure fire after smoke was seen coming from a two-story home.

The call came in around 1:12 p.m. The first arriving unit reported moderate smoke showing from the residence and quickly declared a working structure fire. Firefighters acted swiftly, bringing the blaze under control within minutes.

According to officials, the fire was contained to the garage area, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home. No injuries were reported.

Investigators later determined the cause of the fire was linked to the charging system of a golf cart parked inside the garage.

Fire officials are reminding residents to exercise caution when charging electric vehicles or equipment. They recommend ensuring all charging systems are in good condition and placed away from combustible materials.
