It has been a strange week.
We are entering into uncertain times. The United States is obviously sharply divided in its belief systems. Many people are afraid this week.
Unfortunately we don't have all the answers. But what has helped us enormously in times of great stress?
Reading a book.
I know coming from a publisher that this might feel like a shameless self-promotion, but it's not. Read a book. Read any book. Read something that brings you comfort or gives you hope or makes you laugh or sends you to a different world. Read whatever you need right now. Remind yourself of the range of human experience and the struggles that others have overcome.
Reading has been proven to help with stress management, develop empathy, improve critical thinking, inspire change, and to just flat out entertain us. Reading makes us human. Reading makes us happy.
So, read a book. We obviously have some options available, but there are so many other choices available, too. If you need permission to do it, we officially give it to you. Take a beat. Take a breath. Take care of yourself. And get lost in a good book.
