BIOGRAPHY OF MULELEMBA
Aubrey Isaac Mafumu Matiki is a Malawian comedian, musician, and academic.
Originally from Chiradzulu district, Aubrey is the first-born child in a family of five children.
After reaching school-going age, Matiki attended various primary schools in Malawi. Some of these include Biwi in Lilongwe, St. Pius in Blantyre, and Nsoni in his home district. He then proceeded to Tsabango CDSS for his secondary education.
After completing his secondary school education, Matiki ventured into professions such as public relations, chartered marketing, and strategic management. He later returned to school, obtaining a degree (Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication) from the Polytechnic (now MUBAS).
Currently, he is pursuing a Master's Degree in Development Communication while continuing his teaching career at the Polytechnic and College of Medicine (now KUHES).
Artistically, Matiki began his involvement in drama as a primary school learner. Over time, he joined various drama groups, including Nanzikambe and Wakumbata Esemba, before being introduced to radio plays. He was introduced to radio drama by Mavin Hanke for MBC. Since then, he has played notable roles in programs such as AIDS Toto, Tili Tonse, Zimachitika, Mbali Yanga, and Tikuferanji comedy series.
In addition to his dramatic talents, Matiki was once a traditional dancer, performing Lhomwe dances like Mazoma and Tchopa. This likely fueled his interest in music. He attributes his love for dance and music to his family background in chieftaincy, which exposed him to cultural expressions through dance and music.
Interestingly, Matiki is the one who introduced Princess Chitsulo to the song Chindendelinde, where Chitsulo provided the vocals. Both Mulelemba and Chitsulo hail from the same home area. Matiki has released several songs that were popular on radio in the past.
Mulelemba is married and One of his children, Princess Multikey, is a rapper who recently completed her studies at UNIMA.
