Sakeena Itoo visits SMHS Hospital Srinagar, enquires about health of injured student

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 05: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, today visited the SMHS Hospital Srinagar to enquire about the well-being of young student Adfar Imtiyaz of Ichigam Budgam who sustained serious injuries due to an electric shock incident.
During the visit, the Minister held detailed deliberations with the attending doctors and medical staff to get first-hand information about the student’s condition and ongoing treatment. She directed the Principal GMC to ensure best possible treatment to the injured student.
Expressing deep concern over the unfortunate event, the Minister also interacted with the family members and attendants of the injured student. She assured them every possible support from the government during this difficult time.
The Minister assured them that accountability will be fixed on this incident and swift action will be taken against those responsible for this negligence.
She also extended prayers for speedy recovery of the injured student and expressed solidarity with the family.

*DC Kupwara reviews preparedness for Independence Day celebrations*

KUPWARA, AUGUST 5: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the preparedness for celebration of Independence Day-2025 in the district.
ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACD, CEO and other District Officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure fool proof arrangements well in advance at DPL Kupwara to avoid any inconvenience during the celebration of the Independence Day.
Various departments including Education, PHE, R&B, Information, Health, Sports, Traffic, Motor Vehicles, PDD and Municipality were directed to look after their respective assignments.
The decoration of the main venue, seating arrangements, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water/tanker service, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders, transportation facilities, refreshment, invitations, PAS system, cleanliness and sanitation measures were discussed threadbare in the meeting. Illumination of important Government buildings and main offices will also be ensured.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of National event and directed the departments to make sure that every arrangement is meticulously executed.
She enjoined upon all the departments to work in close coordination to ensure seamless celebration of the Independence Day functions.

August 5 – A Historic Decision and the Road Ahead for Holistic Development of JK : Sheikh Mohmmad Iqbal

Senior BJP Leader and Incharge District President of BJYM Sheikh Mohmmad Iqbal praises Modi Led Central Govt for Taking Historic Decision on August 5, 2019, which stands as a defining moment in the constitutional and emotional integration of Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the nation. The abrogation of Article 370 was not merely a legislative move, it was a courageous step towards restoring dignity, equality, and opportunity to every citizen in the region.

For far too long, the people of Jammu & Kashmir lived under the shadows of conflict, inequality, and limited development due to a constitutional arrangement that bred alienation and hindered progress. But today, we see a transformed Jammu & Kashmir where peace prevails, development is visible, and the dreams of our youth are being nurtured by education, skill-building, and entrepreneurship; He Added.

The fears of mothers have been replaced with hope. Incidents of stone pelting have drastically decreased, tourism has revived, and investments are steadily flowing in. For the first time, central welfare schemes are reaching every household, be it housing, health insurance, or education. Our women, backward communities, and marginalized groups are now enjoying rights that were long denied to them; He Further Added.

While Appreciating Modi Govt He Added that This transformation is not accidental it is the result of visionary leadership and the commitment of the Modi government to the holistic development of every corner of the Union Territory. As a proud representative of the youth of Jammu & Kashmir, I see firsthand how our young people are seizing new opportunities, in sports, startups, academics, and public service.

But our work is far from done. We must further strengthen grassroots democratic institutions through empowered Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. We must enhance connectivity in far-flung districts, promote eco-tourism, and ensure that every section of society becomes a stakeholder in peace-building; He Added.

August 5 will always be remembered as the day Jammu & Kashmir embarked on a new journey, not of secession or difference, but of unity, dignity, and determined progress. As we move forward, we reaffirm our resolve to build a J&K that contributes to and thrives in the new India, secure, prosperous, and inclusive for all. He Added.
