It is difficult to put into words the impact that the Homestead Pickin' Parlor has had on the Minnesota acoustic music community for the last 46 years. Beyond the instruments and accessories, Marv and Dawn created a space for people to meet, jam together and learn to play and appreciate traditional roots music of all flavors. It is where both Anthony Ihrig Music and Mother Banjo got their first banjos 🪕 and took their first lessons. But most importantly, the relationships they made there played an indispensable role in shaping their careers in folk music. Tomorrow (7/31/25) their doors will close for good as Marv and Dawn move on to a well deserved retirement. If you get a chance, stop on in, help them clear out the last of their inventory (there are some great deals!), pick up a Homestead sticker and let them know how much we appreciate all that they have done for our community!!
