Storytelling time about the problems we encountered while on the way to camping.
Last Saturday, we went to ARMYS Camping Ground to attend the CAMPING IDEAS PHILIPPINES Ride and Camp 2025. We drove all the way from Fairview, QC, and while passing through C5, we noticed something off with Max, our Pajero. Every time we hit 60kph, the car started to vibrate, so we slowed down to 40kph. We pulled over at Shell J. Vargas to check what was wrong, but couldn’t find anything. I suspected it might be the turbo, so I told Mich, Jay, and Faye that we’d just drive slower and continue the trip.
The issue stayed with us the whole way. We cruised at 60kph. When we reached SLEX, we stopped again at Shell SLEX to check once more, but still, nothing seemed visibly wrong. Jay suggested it might be the propeller, axle, bumper, or rock slider, but I was convinced it was the turbo—the sound it made while spinning would slow down as I eased off the gas.
We continued towards Tagaytay, and just before reaching the venue, we were going downhill, so I let the car freewheel without stepping on the gas. But to my surprise, the vibration still happened. That’s when I realized—it couldn’t be the turbo because it wasn’t even active. I started to think it might be the propeller after all.
To test it, I switched from 2H to 4H to activate the 4x4 mode. I heard a loud tick sound, then noticed that the vibration stopped and the strange noise barely came back. That’s when I said, “Aha! The culprit must be the propeller.”
After the camping event, on our way back home, we decided to take city roads instead of the expressway to be safe. I told Faye she could go ahead so she could get home earlier, since our convoy would be slow. Jay and I drove through the cities of Cavite back to Fairview at just 40kph, not wanting to worsen the issue.
On the way, we stopped for dinner at Jay’s place in Lancaster. It was honestly amazing that we made it all the way from Fairview to Tagaytay and back at just 40kph—but we still enjoyed the trip and didn’t let it stress us out.
That’s when we said to ourselves the Banayad Adventures Tagline “Mararating din yan, basta Banayad lang.”
