Our programmes are specifically for children aged 7 to 12, but we also have some pre-school programming which we broadcast under the Fun Kids Junior banner (weekdays 9am to 3pm). As will come as no surprise, this includes a lot of songs! Some are from TV shows or kids’ films and others are from the charts. Some are from nowhere in particular but we know that a high proportion of five year olds sta
nd up and jiggle when they come on. There are also lots of stories on Fun Kids every day and a steady stream of competitions and news about events. After 9pm, the music changes withs songs to relax and chill out too – mainly for the benefit of the grown-ups, but safe for children to listen to as well. This year we've been helping kids to explore a what, how and why of AI with help from National Grid. As well as looking at AI's role in powering the UK, children were invited to tell us what they would like to create with AI. Our winner came up with the Proofection Pen - a genius gadget that’s fun, useful and could be a real game-changer for people with dyslexia.
And this is what the winner’s parents told us…
"The way in which AI is being introduced and utilised across so many day-to-day aspects is remarkable. It can be challenging to keep on top of AI as a topic and ensuring its use is communicated in a way that educates children as to both the benefits and risks. It's really pleasing to see a company as nationally visible as National Grid leading on that aspect, by working with Fun Kids to create opportunities to engage and raise awareness of how AI is used to provide utilities."

Our programmes are a mix of music, games and silliness, specifically aimed at 6 to 12 year olds. We also have dedicated pre-school programming - under the Fun Kids Junior name - weekdays from 9am to 3pm.
Some of the songs we play are from TV shows and kids’ films, others are from the charts, some are from nowhere in particular but we know that our listeners like to get up and dance when they come on.
There are also lots of stories on Fun Kids every day, weekly competitions, fun features, and recommendations of family events and things-to-do.
After 9pm, the music changes to Fun Kids Nights. These songs are ideal to relax and chill out too - mainly for the benefit of the grown-ups, but safe for children to listen to as well.
