Could living by the sea actually help you live longer?

A new study explains why. Coastal life comes with many perks: fresher air, gentler days, and that calming ocean view. Here in our sunlit corner of the Mediterranean, we can’t say we’re surprised šŸ’›

So here’s a curious thought - if waking up near the sea could stretch your life, which coastline would you choose? This view is one of my favourites 🌊

I started wondering why we keep checking the news even if it brings us down. It turns out it’s not just the headlines but how we handle them. Cutting back on news is a good start to feel better but there’s more to it.

Dr. Albert Ellis had a cheeky name for the trap we fall into - ā€œmusturbationā€. That’s the belief that things must be a certain way for us to feel okay. His method REBT (rational emotive behaviour therapy) can help us separate fact from feeling and reclaim our calm šŸ’›

At SunKiss, we think staying informed shouldn’t mean sacrificing your sanity. That’s why we share good news, not gloom, and music that lifts your mood šŸŽ¶

When the world gets noisy, where does your soul go to exhale?

For us, it’s the sea. Always the sea.
A quiet cove. Pine and salt in the air.
Sunlight flickering like a whisper saying, ā€œyou’re okay.ā€ šŸ’›

A 2025 study from Cambridge found that people feel most grounded (most themselves) when they revisit memories of blue spaces: coastlines, lakes, rivers.
Not just comforting, but strengthening.
A quiet remembering of who we really are.

So, what body of water still shimmers in your memory?
🌊 And when did it last remind you of who you are?

Ever struggled with saying no without making it awkward?
Turns out, the Japanese have it figured out - with one tiny word: chotto šŸ™
It means ā€œa littleā€ā€¦ but in conversation, it’s a beautifully subtle way to say ā€œno thanksā€ without offending anyone.

No excuses. No guilt. Just ā€œAsh*ta wa chottoā€¦ā€ and you’re off the hook - elegantly.
Brilliant, right?

Some days, happiness disappears like it went out for milk and forgot to come back.

But hope? Hope sticks around. It's the one that whispers, ā€œMaybe tomorrow,ā€ even when today’s been a bit much.

New research (thank you American Psychological Association via ) suggests hope isn’t just feel-good fluff - it’s what gives life meaning. More than happiness or even gratitude, it’s the emotion that keeps us moving forward. Not because things are easy, but because we believe they could be better.

Hope isn’t magic - it’s momentum. And the best bit? We can practise it. Every small win, every kind gesture, every time we choose to try again - it all adds up.

Because when the road’s a little rough, hope’s the hand on the wheel.

We didn’t pick the sunflower just because it’s cheerful (though that helps). 🌻

We picked it because it’s got layers. Van Gogh painted them again and again - not just to show off his yellows - but to say something about time, hope, loyalty, even heartbreak. He once said, ā€œThe sunflower is mine.ā€ We get it.

There’s something quietly powerful about a flower that follows the sun all day - then bows its head at night, only to rise again. It’s a little bit poetic, a little bit defiant in a good way.

At SunKiss, we liked that. The idea that even in fading light, you can still look up.

That’s why it’s our symbol. For joy, for resilience, for that slight stubbornness to keep turning towards the good.

We’ve just received news that Martini, our beloved flamingo and SunKiss mascot, was recently spotted in Salins d'Aigues-Mortes, France on June 10th 2025! 🦩 šŸ’«

From the Camargue to the coast, she’s a symbol of grace, curiosity, and a free spirit - just like our listeners. We can’t help but smile knowing she’s still out there, living her best flamingo life.

Where do you think she’ll wander next? āœˆļøšŸ’

What if your next great travel story started with a croissant?

Not a five-star meal or a bucket list landmark - just something golden, buttery, and impossibly good.

Bakeries say more about a place than postcards ever could. In Naples, pastries crackle like edible history. In Reykjavik, rye bread tastes like the land itself. In New York, bagels are a daily ritual that somehow still feels sacred. And in Sweden? Cinnamon buns that hug your whole soul.

We came across this list of must-visit bakeries via Travel Tomorrow (šŸ“https://bit.ly/3GyCHvv) and instantly felt that SunKiss Life spark - flour, fire, and memory folded into something humble and unforgettable.

What if the best life advice was simply this: stop calling things ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œbadā€ā€¦ and see what happens?

I’ve been reading The Art of the Interesting by Lorraine Besser lately, and it’s full of ideas that shift your perspective just enough to make the everyday feel a little less everyday.

One that’s really stayed with me is this: when you stop judging every moment, you start noticing it. A grey sky stops being bad weather and becomes something to watch. A long queue turns into a pause. Even tricky conversations feel less like battles and more like… unfolding stories.

The article in The Conversation US reminded me why I picked up her book in the first place - it’s thoughtful, warm, and gently eye-opening.

Not a dramatic change. But a beautiful one šŸ¦‹
