The journey seems so long looking forward, and yet so brief looking back. Understanding this is your salvation from a life of regret.

It’s one of the hardest dualities to use to your advantage:

On the one hand, your time is extremely limited. You only get one shot at this life, and you don’t know when your time is going to be called.
On the other hand, you have nothing BUT time, because time is the stuff life is made of.

Whether you choose to chase your dreams and a life of fulfillment, or resign to a life of default mediocrity, time passes all the same. This means you can take daily action towards a big goal, and look back at how quickly you achieved it, or take the passive approach and wonder where the time went.

Your decisions and perspectives decide whether you live a life in heaven or hell. Your potential being pi**ed away is a slow death of 1000 cuts, each day slightly more uncomfortable than the last. A life of striving leaves you exhausted, but stronger as each day passes.

At the end of your life you will answer for how you decided to live. Regret doesn’t enter the conversation if you never compromised yourself and your mission.

Be The Renaissance.

You were not meant for a small life.

Do not take the fact that you were ‘created in the image of God’ lightly. You have the ability to be the creator, and the creation. To go out and change the world.

You are limited only by the scope of your ambitions and the ex*****on that follows.

"If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever."

If you live a comfortable life behind closed doors, in air conditioned rooms, underneath blue lights you will never know glory, and no one will remember your name.

Ships are built for sea, cars meant to wear out on the road, shoes designed to be beaten down by 1000 steps.

Go for it. Mediocrity is for cowards.

Delay pleasure but do not delay your dreams.

There is a delicate balance between urgency and presence. You need to move with speed towards your goals, but not so fast that you miss the present moment.

The best balance I have found comes in the phrase:

‘Impatient with action, patient with results.’

You can’t control how fast/when things will happen for you, but you can always control your effort. Carpe Diem! Seize the day! Take massive and rapid action in the direction of your calling, but remember to smell the roses.

You can only experience life one day at a time, so enjoy every step along the journey to your big goal. Just make sure you are taking the steps in the first place.

The vanity purchases, watching endless hours of entertainment, and pointless nights out can wait, but YOUR DREAMS CANNOT.

You have been given the desire for a reason, so go make it happen before your time is called.

Luck comes to those who believe they are lucky, and create it for themselves everyday.

Luck is the RESIDUE OF DESIGN

The man who doesn't think he is lucky, or doesn't believe in it at all, never will be. Meanwhile, the lucky ones are dancing at the end of the rainbow, sharing the pot of gold.

"If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right."

Once again, perception is king. Choose to view everything as happening FOR you as opposed to TO you. Then EVERY circumstance is serving your highest good (even if you can't see it yet).

Secondly, the harder you work, the luckier you will be...

'Chance favors the prepared mind.'
'Luck is tenacity of purpose'
'Diligence is the mother of good luck.'

You can create luck for yourself. Hard work, preparation, planning, and positioning all make for a very lucky man.

The truth is that chance and opportunity are always at play. AT BEST you positioned yourself well to receive it, but do not be so arrogant to assume that you were not given the momement.

"Ability is of little account without opportunity.“ - Napoleon

The gladiator needs the arena to step into, but if he trained ahead of time, he might just get lucky.

The power of belief is the power of life.

Religious dogma aside, belief is fundamental to living life. You take acts of faith every single day, whether you realize it or not.

Most of your decisions are investments into your future. Saving money, building skills, planning, preparing etc.

THESE ARE ACTS OF FAITH

You are ASSUMING there will be a tomorrow for you. This is not promised. This is not guaranteed.

And yet, you do so anyway, acting on faith that tomorrow will come, and the sun will rise.

This is not foolish or unwise. In fact, IT IS GOOD

It is a demonstration that to live any sort of life, belief and faith in something are required.

Extending this out, belief in something greater than you or I, something beautiful and powerful beyond belief allows you to step into that unlimited space, and bathe in abundance.

Reject cynicism. Deny nihilism. Embrace belief, and the faith in a better tomorrow.

Be The Renaissance.

It’s ok to feel lost. To feel like you don’t have a direction, purpose, or greater mission.

But it’s NOT ok to stop looking.

The reason you feel anxious and unfulfilled IMPLIES that there is a ‘reason’ in the first place.

HAVE FAITH!

You are here for a purpose. You have a gift to give. Your life’s task therefore, is to discover it, and then act in alignment the rest of your days.

The answer will likely not arise spontaneously, or in a moment of divine inspiration. At least without setting the groundwork.

If you want the ANSWERS (intuition) you have to ask the QUESTIONS (prayer & meditation).

Invest the time, money, and attention necessary to find your answer.

WHAT OTHER OPTION IS THERE?

To sit there and live someone else’s life? To build someone else’s dream? Half as good as they do?

I refuse to believe that anyone is truly content with mediocrity. The human spirit demands more. I just think most aren’t brave enough to make the leap.

Are you?

Unrealized potential will literally kill you.

The chronic stress and fatigue from knowing you are meant for more, but choosing mediocrity instead will send you to an early grave.

And your soul will die everyday in between.

If you ignore the whisper telling you: ‘you’re meant for more’ you will lose your chance to give your gift to the world…

And it will be passed to a man who is ready.

Our time here is finite, brief, and unpromised. Don’t spend it building someone else’s dream and AT MINIMUM exert effort.

Actually fu***ng try to push yourself.

We have all taken a class or worked a job and left something in the tank. Given less than we are capable of. You can fake it for others, but not for yourself.

This is the ultimate accountability of self.

You’re born alone, you die alone, and the only true accountability is between you and God.

So make it happen.

And make it happen for you.

The only way to become a truly sovereign man is to take ownership of your life.

All of it; Actions. Words. Decisions.

If you want to have agency over what happens, it means owning everything, even the stuff that doesn't seem like your problem.

EXTREME ownership.

Someone gets mad at you? -> What did I do to provoke them? How could I have handled it better?

You got cheated on? -> How am I responsible for attracting a partner who would do this to me? In what ways do I cheat myself?

Fired from a job? -> In what ways did I fall short of the mark, and not make myself an indispensable asset?

This is extreme. That's the point.

You are always in control, never a victim of circumstance.

Drawing your locus of control to center makes feeling anxious or helpless impossible because there is ALWAYS something you can do.

While there are exceptions to this rule (death, violent crimes, etc.) the alternative of letting life happen TO you is far more chaotic on the day to day.

Instead life is coming FROM YOU.

You are the master of your fate, the captain of your soul.

Your unfair advantage is hidden in self-awareness.

Achilles was the most potent and feared combatant in ancient times. He was unequaled in single combat, a warrior worth 100 men.

When he was a child, he was dipped into the river styx, granting him invincibility. However, he was held by his heel, and it was not submerged, leaving him exposed.

HIS WEAKNESS WAS HIS STRENGTH.

Achilles KNEW his weak point, and became the most feared fighter because of his SELF-AWARENESS. This knowledge allowed for PERFECT POSITIONING.

It’s extremely hard to determine the right direction when looking outward. There are too many business models, opinions, options & distractions.

ALL NOISE.

By starting with understanding yourself and defining clearly your vision, values, strengths & unfair advantages, the picture becomes CRYSTAL CLEAR.

The single fastest way to accelerate personal and business growth is clarity of direction. Your unfair advantage is in the unique combination of pre-existing natural strengths, passions, and desires.

This turns motivation into an effortless byproduct of leaning into your inborn talents. Your edge that gives you INFINITE LEVERAGE.

Steve Jobs succeeded because he knew EXACTLY what he liked and didn’t. Napoleon and Alexander never questioned the objective at hand. They had CLARITY.

And they never compromised.

10 Tenets to win the war for your spirit (full list):

1. Do your own thinking on all occasions. The fact that human beings are given complete control over nothing but the power to think their own thoughts is laden with significance.

2. Decide definitely what you want from life, then create a plan for attaining it. Be willing to sacrifice everything else, if necessary, rather than accept permanent defeat.

3. Analyze temporary defeat and extract from it the seed of equivalent advantage.

4. Be willing to render useful service of equivalent value to the value of the material things you demand of life, and render the service first.

5. Recognize that your brain is a receiving set that can be attuned to receive communications from the universal storehouse of INFINITE INTELLIGENCE, to help you transmute your desires into physical reality.

6. Recognize that your greatest asset is time. The one thing that can be shaped into whatever material thing you want. Budget your time so that none of it is wasted.

7. Recognize the truth that fear is a filler that the Devil used to occupy the UNUSED portion of your mind. Fill your mind instead with things that makes life give you what you demand of it.

8. When you pray, DO NOT BEG! Demand what you want and insist upon exactly that, with no substitute.

9. Recognize that life is a cruel taskmaster, and that either you master it, or it masters you. There is no halfway or compromising point. Never accept from life anything you do not want.

10. Remember that dominating thoughts attract. This is a definite law of nature. Be careful what your thoughts dwell upon.

'If you had to combine all 10 into one, what would it be?'
-> 'Be definite in everything you do and never leave unfinished thoughts in the mind.'

Homage Napoleon Hill, 'Outwitting The Devil'

Your limits are self-imposed.

It’s a hard pill to swallow, but holds within it the keys to heaven.

Taking a critical look at what you feel is holding you back and asking ‘why?’ will almost always lead back to the self.

Some limiting belief, some lack of action, some bad habit/behavior/person you keep going back to despite the harm to you and your goals.

These are often first given to us by others, but it is US who decide to keep these agreements and hold onto them as law. They are no more than illusions of the mind.

The truth is simple, often too simple really. But simple doesn’t mean easy.

The only way to get to EASY is through the HARD.

Good habits are formed by brute-forcing behavior. Experts/masters/professionals become great by relentless repetition. By being slaves to daily action.

And then all at once, it becomes effortless. Unconscious competence, uncomplicated grace, instinctive FLOW.

Unbridled desire will crush you.

One way to guarantee dissatisfaction and depression is to always desire more. It is an insurmountable master.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, Sisyphus and the stone. If you set your eyes permanently on metrics that are relative, you are trapped in a loop of eternal suffering. 'Better' is always in front of you.

There is always someone richer, more famous, jacked, with a better car, cooler house, prettier girl, etc.

VANITY METRICS!

You will suffer if you assume fulfillment is on the other side of XYZ thing/accomplishment. The grass is not greener on the other side, and the song of the siren only lasts while you are on the shore. Comparison is a determined thief.

Remember, THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS WITHIN YOU

You have a very limited window of time (your life) to try and access peace and abundance, and you will never fill the limitless pit of desire with more money, girls, possessions etc.

"It is not the man who has too little who is poor, but the man who desires for more."

This doesn't mean do not strive greatly. You should set large and wildly ambitious goals. Just ensure that you choose goals of meaning, in pursuit of your highest calling, not material nonsense.

King Solomon is venerated for his wisdom, not his wealth.

Cheap dopamine strokes the Ego.

Likes, followers, views, money, scrolling, etc. Meaningless vanity metrics, hollow praise.

Earned dopamine builds CHARACTER.

Training hard, building strong relationships, having meaningful conversations, and giving your gift to the world. Applied effort and the reward that comes from serving.

YOU MUST SWEAT FOR IT.

To train the mind into a hardened and effective tool, you must associate the reward with the work. Life is non-linear, but there are no shortcuts to the destinations that are worth visiting.

You cannot cheat to win the most coveted prizes.

What if it were easy?

Your obsession with 'hard work' and the 'grind' are the same reasons that your life is hard.

Instead you should be asking yourself, what would this look like if it were easy? If you only had 2-4 hours a day to work, AT MOST, what would you spend that time doing?

The 80/20 Principle is a universal LAW, not a mental framework. This means that most of your results are driven by very few of your inputs; i.e. YOU ARE WASTING TIME

How much of the time you spend 'in the trenches' is just browsing and then trying to redirect your attention back onto the productive and meaningful tasks?

More important than the 'wasted time' is the WASTED ATTENTION.

Imagine a world where the time spent not producing wasn't spent focused on the fact that you are not 'being productive', beating yourself up, and anxious about what you 'should be doing'.

Grab the biggest lever and pull it. Don't spend the day fidgeting with k***s and buttons. Work and then go LIVE.

Touch grass, sweat in the sun, look at art, eat good food, walk somewhere far, have 3 hour conversations. All while knowing you did the most important things, and wasted no time on the rest.

CLARITY and EX*****ON with absolutely no waste.

VELOCITY

Life is a vector. Like velocity, it has a DIRECTION you are going, and the SPEED at which you're moving.

It is extremely important to move rapidly at your goals with reckless pace.

It's vital to choose FAST ACTION. You have to OUTRUN PROCRASTINATION.

Do not get stuck in analysis paralysis. The best option is the one that you choose quickly and deal with. Do not let life pass you by while you try to hit the target exactly the first time. There is no 'right' answer, only a lack of decision.

Remember, speed makes the bullet deadly.

However, it's WAY more important to be DIRECTIONALLY CORRECT. You need to KNOW WHERE TO AIM.

A 1 degree difference in alignment creates massive change when you extend out 100s of miles, or decades of time. Don't sprint really far, really fast, just to look back and realize YOU MISSED BY A MILE.

Constantly assess if you are headed where you want to. Find your North Star, and remain as aligned as possible along the way. Take intentional pauses when needed, orient yourself towards the goal, and move with pace.

Introspection is the most important skill you can develop to be great.

All of the greatest men live(d) in a constant state of self-auditing, not just in their actions, behaviors and systems, but in their THOUGHTS, PERSPECTIVES, and IDEAS.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is literally his PRIVATE JOURNAL of traversing what it took to be a King navigating plague and unrest. But despite this, the book is a window into the MAN, not the CIRCUMSTANCES.

The ability to look at yourself, in the most curious and objective way possible, is the key to the universe. To go deep within yourself is to go far in life. The more domain, control, and understanding you can curate about yourself, the more the world will pour blessings upon you.

This can and does look differently for everyone. Long walks, quiet meditations, intense breath-work, flow-state training, inspired writing and passionate artistic pursuits. The ingredients can be mixed and matched, but you must be INTENTIONALLY INTROSPECTIVE

Who am I?
Why do I feel the way that I do right now?
How could I feel better?
Am I serving my highest aim?
What would it feel like to live in the dream I have for myself?

Recognize that your capacity to imagine a future reality, is itself that reality. Knowing this all that remains to build the ideal future you want is to master yourself. As within, so without.

10/04/2023

Solitude is choosing to spend time WITH yourself, not BY yourself. You are in your own company.

You are the ONLY PERSON you will spend all of your life with, so you are someone worth getting to know.

Acknowledge that solitude and loneliness are not the same. Both are states of being physically alone, but mentally are entirely different. Your perspective determines your experience.

Loneliness is a FEELING OF ABANDONMENT.

A feeling that because you are by yourself, it means others have chosen to leave you behind. But the truth is that if you feel lonely,

YOU HAVE ABANDONED YOURSELF.

During his time staying in a small cabin near Walden Pond Thoreau reflected on the importance of solitude in transcending the “desperate” existence that, he argues, is the lot of most people:

“I find it wholesome to be alone the greater part of the time. To be in company, even with the best, is soon wearisome and dissipating. I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude.”

Solitude is INTENTIONAL ISOLATION.

Giving yourself the physical, mental, and spiritual distance to be alone, still, and quiet. These are moments where you can become intimately aquatinted with yourself. Quiet enough to hear your own thoughts, free of the influence of others and their ideology.

Most masterpieces are painted in empty studios. Most poems written and a desk for one. This is necessary to be great. There is peace & power there, alone with the M and the E.
