What do you do when your partner is diagnosed with glioblastoma? In caregiver, Robert Marx's case, he and his wife made the most of the time they had. As a caregiver, Robert decided to approach care-giving in a very methodical, communicative, compassionate way. His advice- "Don't neglect your own we...

So vitally important.

Hundreds of volunteer advocates put partisan differences aside and pressed Congress to help people with cancer. The advocacy came just before the stalemate that has shut down the federal government.

Did a thing today~

And it got me reflecting on where I am 5 years later; how far I’ve come. The impact Write Life Media & Game On Glio is making on people’s lives still surprises me.

I am blessed beyond measure to do the work I do and to be the storyteller I am.

More to come soon.

A brain tumor diagnosis can be overwhelming, but understanding your treatment team, how care works, and the options available is the first step toward making confident, informed decisions throughout the journey.

A neurologist is a member of the treatment team who has expertise in the nervous system and works to manage patients’ symptoms and complications related to brain tumors.

This is the last~

This is the last trip we took to the Adirondacks, October 2018. By October of 2019 you had been diagnosed with brain cancer.

By October of 2020 you died.

The Adirondacks was our peace, our zen. We went every year. Your smile lit up the room. This last year we went, I had just suffered a miscarriage and found out my best friend was pregnant with her first. I thought that was the hardest thing I was going to have to endure-I was wrong.

I see my face in these pictures and I know I’m not that person anymore. Cancer has changed me. Losing multiple children has changed me.

I am strong, I persevere, but I still mourn.

October used to bring wonderful memories and excitement. Now I just work hard to push through it.

Few missions are more urgent than developing treatments for deadly, treatment-resistant cancers.

That’s exactly what Cypris Therapeutics, founded by Kyle Parella, PhD, aims to do.

“Therapeutically resistant cancers like brain, pancreatic, colon, and prostate cancer claim millions of lives each year,” Parella explains. “Everyone knows someone with cancer. For those whose disease doesn’t respond to current treatments, the experience is especially grim—many die within a year of diagnosis. We’re developing therapies to help the millions of people who currently have no effective options.”

The company’s name, Cypris, is a nod to the Cypress tree—an origin with deep scientific roots. “The original molecules we used as inspiration for our treatments are found in the bark of the Cypress tree,” says Parella. “We had to modify the spelling for branding and PR purposes, but the name still reflects where we began.”

Using nature to tackle rare cancers like brain cancer supports the theory that our body can fight many things if given the right circumstances. As a new partner of Game On Glio and Write Life Media, we are thrilled to help them advance their drug development therapies.

Chris Schuler is a fierce advocate for the brain cancer community, a journey that found him due to his experience losing his father to glioblastoma. My take away from my interview with Chris is his perspective on his anticipatory grief compared to his mother's traumatic grief after his dad's death.....

~Gilmore Girls & Yale University

I’ve been rewatching G.G. The episodes when Rory starts at Yale give me such cozy vibes.

I had the privilege of attending Yale University’s summer program for Storytelling in Modern Media certification in 2017. It was my very first time living in a dorm. I attended lectures, walked the campus grounds, debated with my professors, and stalked all the shooting locations where was filmed.

I spent countless nights at the library studying, visited the Beinecke Rare Book & manuscript library, and took in all the campus history.

It was a lifelong dream~ one I made come true with thanks to my passion for writing & storytelling. I truly love what I do and how I do it.

Here’s to more dreams coming true (hopefully sooner than later). ✨
