Sorry I haven’t updated, I’ll make sure to stay on top of it! Here’s my past three reads — the standout being Pilgrims (4.75 stars) about aliens invading earth, and they are somehow Roman Catholic. Trust me, it pays off. Awesome book and have recorded review already. M. R. Leonard’s debut was so well done. Highly recommend.

Also read Between Two Fires for our Book Club — I was mixed to positive on it. A well done book that didn’t grab me emotionally.

Reign & Ruin we read for SPFBO — it’s a romantasy and I didn’t like it. The romance to me too easily solved conflicts in the plot and lost a lot of the characters’ agency.

But next up... SHADOWS UPON TIME! I am so excited. See you all at the gala!

I last read ‘Hyperion’ in 2022, but reread this for our Book Club last weekend!

Hyperion consists of six smaller stories within one large one. Six characters tell their backstory as to why they are on this voyage to meet this ominous ‘Shrike.’ On my reread, I appreciated some of the backstories more and felt more lukewarm about other parts. The priest’s tale still remained my favorite.

Good book overall — 3.5 stars. This is a tough one to judge because, for me, 3 of these short stories are great while there are 3 others that weren’t as interesting. Also the way the book ends is fine, but not totally satisfying/complete (book was split into 2 I believe). Definitely need to (and will) read book 2 to get more of a conclusion. Though the way this book has multiple genres/storytelling techniques is very cool and the worldbuilding is excellent. A great book for the Book Club for sure, the discussion was awesome. Podcast review is coming!

We now have a SECOND CHANNEL! “2 To Reel” (https://www.youtube.com/) will be exclusively for film reviews and discussions. We are doing a different format there and working out the early kinks. Nothing with 2 To Ramble is changing (still 2 Pod episodes a week) — we just wanted to make this separate channel for films so that it didn’t disrupt the book content here. If you’re into films and want to keep up on new releases, we plan on reviewing new movies as they come out. Very excited!
