From our co-host, Kandice Jacobs Robinson:

I began the morning of this year’s feeling emotional, but it soon proved to be an absolute blessing... As we walked, a gentleman — seeing my shirt came up on my left and inquired how I knew Willie Jacobs. Before I could answer he said, “Wait, you’re his daughter aren’t you.” I smiled…and said, “I am.” He then said, “I worked with your dad at Bellsouth for many years. How is he doing?” My smile left my face and went to my misty eyes instead, and I gently answered in my funeral director voice, “He passed away in May,” not knowing to what degree this news may upset him. Before I could finish steeling myself, this kind but complete stranger put his arm around me and told me how sorry he was. I did the same, feeling his earnest sincerity…Feeling my daddy’s spirit, I managed not to come completely unglued…But God, you can be found in every moment…

Willie B Jacobs, you are still here with us. My amazing daddy, your legacy lives on., your light still shines bright in this world! BY GOD’S AMAZING GRACE WE RAISED $4K in support of the educational & caregiver support programming and research being done by Alzheimer's Association, Central/North Florida!!! Donations are still being accepted through December, and you can help us reach $5K by making a tax-deductible donation here:👇🏽

Spending the first part of my day with was an utter joy! I invite you to enjoy these memories with me — in particular if you need a reason to smile today, I highly recommend the photos of my future little CEO, partying with a purpose — in honor of her grandaddy! Peace & Blessings 💜

P.S. - Jace Miller at Rush Order Tees, you are an absolute rock star model of customer service and being an empathetic human being! Thank you for hearing my heart in sharing how important it was to have these shirts the next day, in time for the walk early Sat morning. You actually took the time to extend such sincere condolences, and you were willing to go the extra mile to ensure this shirt was printed and overnighted for me and my daughter to wear at the walk!!! I will never be able to adequately convey my gratitude — the quality of print was exceptional!

From co-host, Kandice Jacobs Robinson:
Today is World Alzheimer's Day; and, I feel this is the right day to share with loyal Long Live The Brains followers the reason for the noted silence here on our podcast page. Four months ago, my loving father -- Willie Jacobs -- entered peaceful rest from his battle with Alzheimer's disease; and, I have taken this time to actually follow the advice I share as a death care provider. Through the support of those who were aware — to include my friend & former founding host, Dr. Philip Tipton & his lovely family, I have been greatly encouraged. I look forward to continuing the important work of "equipping you to live life abundantly & leave a lasting legacy.”
Today though, with the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer's in November, I ask for you to please VISIT http://act.alz.org/goto/MemoryWarriorz TODAY TO REGISTER FOR THE WALK OR TO MAKE A DONATION in support of our team fundraising goal. Let’s support the Alzheimer's Association as they continue the vital work of finding a cure and ensure continued programming for the millions of family caregivers. This year I will walk once more, but this time in honor of my dad’s amazing legacy — which you can read more about at https://www.pontevedravalley.com/obituaries/willie-jacobs.
I thank each of you sincerely in advance, and I invite you to continue to replay past episodes for needed resource information until we can return with a new season!

Did you know July is Sandwich Generation Month? Sandwich Generation caregivers are that unique group of individuals in their late 30's to early 50's who are sandwiched between raising children and caring for aging parents. Are you a sandwich generation caregiver, and do you struggle with such concerns as: "How do I practice self care while taking care of my loved one?"
