NAFDAC seizes counterfeit wines worth N41.2 Million in Nasarawa raid

The Nigeria Food and Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC has conducted a major raid on wine shops in Mararaba Market and the New Nyanya and Masaka areas of Nasarawa State. In a statement released today, the agency said the operation targeted counterfeit and adulterated wines and spirits, resulting in the seizure of products valued at over N41.2 million.

The agency said its Investigation & Enforcement team is actively investigating the importers or manufacturers behind these counterfeit drinks.

NAFDAC urged consumers to remain vigilant and report suspicious products to the nearest NAFDAC office for immediate action.

The police in Lagos state arraigned a 25-year-old tailor identified as Victoria Effiong, before a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Iba last Friday, October 4, for allegedly refusing to marry a suitor after collecting N2.8m among other things, from him.

Effiong is facing three counts bordering on breach of peace, cheating and obtaining by false pretence.

Punch reports that the police prosecutor, Inspector Chinedu Njoku, told the court that the incident occurred on September 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Ajanaku Street, Isashi.

‘’Effiong unlawfully cheated the complainant, Dominic Asuquo, by obtaining the sum of N2,866,000 under the pretext of agreeing to marry him, but she failed to follow through.”

The prosecutor further told the court that while the defendant was dating Asuquo, she obtained an iPhone worth N240,000, different clothes, a wristwatch, shoes and bags valued at N350,000.

He also said that the complainant gave the defendant a cash sum of N810,000, and daily feeding money for seven months worth N868,000.

The situation escalated when Asuquo discovered that Effiong was planning to marry another man, despite having introduced him to her parents, who were aware of their relationship.

“Effiong also withdrew N300,000 from Asuquo’s ATM account for shopping,” Njoku added

The defendant who was arraigned before Magistrate Mrs O. M. Ogun, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

In her defence, Effiong denied being in any relationship with Asuquo and claimed that he knew she was seeing someone else. She admitted to receiving the iPhone, a smaller phone worth N20,000, money, and other items but insisted that she had told Asuquo to stop sending her money because she was uncomfortable with it.

Congratulations Reno - the hustle for Ajuri’s place is not an easy one. But with your dedication to teach the obidients a lesson, you are almost assured of that position.

But the problem is that the President is smarter…
He has been around…
He doesn’t trust you…
He knows that you allegedly worked for Peter Obi as a social media manager and later publicly launched an attack on Peter Obi because of your allegiance to Atiku…
In the last elections, you worked for Atiku and may probably attack him in defence of Tinubu in the next elections…
If the president gives Ajuri’s position to you, it would be because he wants to use you against Atiku in 2027. But the problem is that Wike is already doing a good job for the President in humbling the PDP so your relevance to the President is lower because of Wike.

My strategic advice to you in your pursuit for Ajuri’s place is that you push a bit harder on Peter Obi and the Obidients to convince the President that you are truly the ruffler of the wings of the obidients.
Go harder on David Hundeyin and Sowore… be silent on Very Dark Man because he has files on you and you don’t want any scandals this season. Avoid him like you avoided saying “Dear Charles Awuzie”.
If you heed to this advice, those around the President whom you probably or allegedly cry daily to for this appointment may prevail on the President to sign your appointment letter.

The moment you receive your appointment, you will have every power to press buttons against projects started by people you don’t like including Charles Awuzie’s Big Brain Naija - a show with the potential to inspire Nigeria’s teaming youth population. But expect a heavy public backlash by millions of Nigerians who desire this alternative content.

A lot of people call your Ajuri-Mission vengeful - they believe you want to be affiliated with power even if it means been appointed as a domestic staff of the president. You just want the covering of the President to PEPPER the obidients who exposed you long before you exposed yourself.

I wish you well in this pursuit but I fear that President Tinubu has deep intel on you. You may need to work harder to convince those around him. Remember, we need to teach the Obidients a lesson. Oh, when a man is driven by unforgiveness and political bitterness, he eats his own words and later cry why nobody takes him seriously.

Kidnappers k!ll Onitsha businessman after reportedly collecting N10m ransom

Suspected kidnappers have k!lled a businessman identified as Sunny Taxman, after reportedly collecting N10m ransom.


The deceased hailed from Alor Agu in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State but was based in Onitsha, Anambra State.


Details of the incident are still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

“They kidnapped him, demanded for ransom. 10 million Naira was paid to the kidnappers... Still they k!lled him. Rest in peace Sunny Taxman,” Enugu media personality, Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, September 9.

Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has revealed that Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen has not apologized for the social media rant that disrespected him.

Osimhen lashed out at Finidi on social media after the Finidi reportedly accused him of pulling out of national team games.

After the rant, Osimhen was widely criticized on social media with top sporting figures urging him to apologize but Finidi says he has put the episode behind him.

“I sent him a message that it was not the best way, just someone telling you that coach said that and you’re taking about me like I said it in an interview,” Finidi told Nigeria Info FM.

“From that point I didn’t hear from him, I moved on and I wish everybody well, only God will judge”.

Finidi also refused to comment on the suggestion that Osimhen should have been sanctioned with a ban from the Super Eagles.

“I don’t know, he is there already, let him be,”he added.

“We cannot crucify him, he has made a mistake, we have moved on and life goes on.”

The proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools in Sapele, Delta State, Mrs Fatima Umukoro, was allegedly m8rdered by her 25-year-old son, Emmanuel Umukoro.

According to Punch, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday night, September 8, 2024.

The deceased was the wife of Rev Prince Umukoro, the resident pastor of Victory Family Assembly Int’l (VIFA) and a well-known figure in Sapele.

It was gathered that Emmanuel had been allegedly grappling with mental health issues exacerbated by suspected substance abuse.

Despite undergoing rehabilitation, his struggle with drug addiction persisted, leading to subsequent unpredicted violent outbursts.

Some of the neighbours who spoke to the publication, said the suspect hacked his mother to d£ath with an axe and set her body ablaze.

Eyewitnesses said the gate of the Umukoro residence was left open around 10 pm, which was unusual. This prompted neighbours and passersby to check on the situation

“Only to discover fire coming from inside the house with the door left open. Upon entering the house, they found the lifeless body of Mrs. Umukoro, burnt beyond recognition,” the witness said.

“We saw her son, Emmanuel Umukoro driving out of the compound around 8:30 pm at a high speed in his mother’s car

The neighbours said that the suspicious movement of the son led to his apprehension by the police along Sapele-Warri Road as he (Son) attempted to escape to an unknown destination.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday, September 9.

“The son is in police custody now but cannot say whether he’s the one that killed her until investigation is concluded.”

EBONYI STATE ADVANCES WASTE-TO-WEALTH INITIATIVE

The Government of Ebonyi State has shown its practical steps towards achieving a waste to wealth initiative.

In an inspection tour of Friday, September 6, 2024, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru took all members of the Ebonyi State Executive Council to Umuoghara, Ezza North Local Government Area, where the State has a pulverization plant.

It was a far-reaching experience, which availed the Governor ample opportunity to evaluate the machines procured by his Government and the one revitalized for the course.

Basically, they are all sorting machines, but the Governor spoke clearly on the need to plan ahead for ones that will engineer finished products. In the interim, the machines on ground are sophisticated enough to sort all manner of waste materials for the State to sell, given that it is a dumping ground for the State’s waste materials.

Governor Nwifuru took some time as well, to address members of the community who gathered to welcome him, appealing with them to support the project. Interestingly, the Government has begun the construction of the rural road that leads to and beyond the plant, to ensure increased development of the area.

This waste-to-wealth initiative is well contained as an item under the Environmental sector in the The People's Charter of Needs
