KENYA : 'Watashangaa sana': Mtoto wa Simba ni Simba.
Senator Sifuna hits back at President Ruto for saying Raila was his only worthy competitor.
-Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has hit back at President William Ruto over his remarks that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was his only worthy competitor, saying the President will be in for a surprise come the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the ODM delegates’ meeting in Mombasa on Saturday, November 1, Sifuna echoed Raila’s call for the party to field a presidential candidate in the next election.
He said Ruto’s suggestion that other contenders pose no serious challenge will backfire if ODM secures victory in 2027.

TANZANIA: Human Rights Situation
AU Commission Raises Alarm over Human rights Situation in Tanzania after Elections.
-The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Tanzania following its general elections.
-In a statement on Saturday, November 1, the Commission said it is “extremely concerned” by reports of widespread unrest and violence that erupted after the elections, which reportedly left several people dead and many more injured following clashes between protestors and security forces.
The Commission noted that a nationwide internet shutdown has made it difficult to verify the actual number of casualties.
-It warned that the incidents would constitute grave violations of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which Tanzania ratified in 1984.

TANZANIA : Samia Suluhu Wins Election
Samia Suluhu Hassan declared landslide Winner in Election Marred by Violence.
-Tanzania's electoral commission declared on Saturday that President Samia Suluhu Hassan had won, with nearly 98% of the votes, an election that set off violent protests across the country this week.
The result hands Hassan, who took power in 2021 after the death in office of her predecessor, a five-year term to govern the East African country of 68 million people.
Protests erupted during Wednesday's vote for president and parliament, with some demonstrators tearing down banners of Hassan and setting fire to government buildings and police firing teargas and gunshots, according to witnesses.

TANZANIA: Kunawaka
A national polling day quickly turned into Samia Suluhu's darkest nightmare.
-What was supposed to be an ordinary Election Day for millions of Tanzanians quickly disintegrated into a chaotic mishmash of riots, burnings, street battles and daring uprisings as Tanzanians broke all protocol and, for the first time in decades, flooded the streets in an unprecedented force of defiance, anger and shocking audacity.
-From Arusha to Mbeya, Kigoma to Mwanza, Tanzanians stopped traffic, razed down polling stations, invaded pro-government establishments and ripped up Samia Suluhu's billboards as they furiously marched their way into town, placards held high, violently tearing their way into the very security forces established to subdue them.
As it all unfolded, in its reminiscent gloriousness, Kenyans gleefully followed on, cheering on their Jiranis (neighbours), urging them on, rooting for them and fervently keeping the nascent revolution alive - at least by a tweet, a comment and a shamelessly gleeful cheer.

Indian doctors who treated Raila arrive in Kenya to pay final respects.
-Doctors from Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Hospital in Kerala, India, have arrived in Kenya to pay their final respects to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Accompanied by Raila's daughter Rosemary Odinga, the doctors were received in Mombasa by Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir, who also serves as the ODM Deputy Party Leader.
"They are in Kenya to pay their final respects to a man whose life and legacy transcended borders. The global outpouring of love for Baba is a reflection of his extraordinary journey; one defined by courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to justice and humanity," Nassir posted on X.
"May his spirit continue to inspire us to build the Kenya he dreamed of - united, just, and full of hope."
Raila was drawn to Ayurvedic treatment centres, the same form of therapy his daughter, Rosemary, sought in India in 2022.

KENYA : 2027 Elections
'Mtu ningeshindana na yeye ni Raila': President Ruto slams opposition, Vows to win 2027 election.
-President William Ruto has chided his political opponents, accusing them of lacking a concrete plan for the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Malava, Kakamega County on Thursday, the president remarked that his only worthy competitor was the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, adding that the remaining contenders do not pose a significant challenge.
Exuding confidence in his track record, Ruto stated that he expects to secure an early victory in the upcoming polls.
-"Ati wale watu nashindana nao ni wale? Yani mtu ningeshindana na yeye ni Raila lakini hawa. Nitawamalizia asubuhi na mapema. Ni kweli ama si kweli? Ni kwa sababu hawana mpango."
He noted that viral slogans such as Wantam and Kasongo would not be enough to secure victory at the ballot, emphasizing that engaging Kenyans on matters of development would be a more effective approach.
"One term, Kasongo, itabadilisha dunia? Si hiyo ni ujinga? Hawa jamaa hawana mpango, sera, agenda, ata akili hawana," he noted.

TANZANIA
AU, EAC asked to hold Tanzania's President Suluhu accountable over protester suppression.
-Human Rights Activists in Kenya have hailed the ongoing anti-government protests, saying the neighbouring country is currently undergoing a democratic re-awakening moment.
The Civil Society Groups are now calling on the Africa Union (AU), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the East Africa Community (EAC) to hold President Samia Suluhu accountable for suppressing demonstrators.
-"There are serious human rights abuses, reported deaths and abductions. You saw what happened to us when we went to legally represent our colleague," Martha Karua said.
"They are attacking young men and women fighting for their rights," Kawithe Wambua, CEO of Inuka Kenya ni Sisi, said.
"The youth in Tanzania are expressing their constitutional rights and must be protected," the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) stated.

TANZANIA: "We want our country back" - Protesters
Tanzania blackout after election chaos, deaths feared.
-Tanzania was on lockdown with a communications blackout on Thursday, a day after elections turned into violent chaos with unconfirmed reports of many dead.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan had sought to solidify her position and silence criticism within her party in the virtually uncontested polls, with the main challengers either jailed or disqualified.
In the run-up, rights groups condemned a "wave of terror" in the East African nation, which has seen a string of high-profile abductions that ramped up in the final days.
A heavy security presence on Wednesday failed to deter hundreds protesting in economic hub Dar es Salaam and elsewhere, some singing: "We want our country back".

TANZANIA: U.S. Embassy Issues Safety Alert
U.S. Embassy issues safety alert over Tanzania election protests.
-The United States Embassy in Tanzania has advised its personnel to take shelter at their residences amid ongoing demonstrations in the East African nation over the general election.
According to the embassy, its personnel are advised to avoid demonstrations and huge crowds, maintain a low profile and monitor local media for updates on the country's situation.
Further, they were instructed to enrol in the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts about the protests.
-Demonstrators took to the streets on election day to protest against the elections, where President Samia Suluhu is expected to contest without much competition as the main opposition party CHADEMA, boycotted the vote after its party leader, Tundu Lissu, was charged with treason.
Another contender slated to vie for the presidency, Luhaga Mpina of the ACT-Wazalendo party, was also disqualified from the polls due to legal technicalities.
