20/03/2025

Drought conditions continue to worsen in our area. Now two pockets of exceptional drought are on the map (worst category in the Drought Monitor).

13/03/2025

A potentially historic wind event is expected from eastern New Mexico through Oklahoma, where wind gust of 80 MPH are likely! This will result in extreme wildfire conditions and widespread blowing dust that will greatly reduce visibility. Winds will increase overnight Thursday night, and stay strong through Friday night. Sustained speeds of 40-50 MPH are likely.

11/03/2025

📣 TEXAS: The winds will build throughout the week leading up to a widespread high wind event on Friday March 14th. We will likely see gusts exceeding 60 MPH across the entire northwestern half of Texas on Friday morning and afternoon. These wind velocity predictions are going to change as we get closer to Friday, but expect dust storms, extreme fire conditions, light damage to infrastructure, and hazardous driving conditions for semis/trailers/RVs this Friday.

A cooldown is coming in the extended forecast. Before that happens, it will actually be hotter today and tomorrow. Sunshine dominates the skies today with highs around 100 to 102 degrees. South winds offer little relief at 5 to 10 mph. Fire dangers remain very high due to the drought and extreme heat. A stray storm is possible late in the day, but very unlikely. Lows tonight remain in the lower to middle 70s.

21/08/2023

Today remains mostly sunny and very hot across the Hill Country. Once again, high temperatures soar to between 100 and 105 degrees across Gillespie County. There is a low 10 percent chance of rain late in the day due to daytime heating. All eyes remain focused on the Gulf of Mexico with a tropical disturbance moving toward South Texas. Despite 50 percent rain chances tomorrow, this system may miss us entirely with highest rain chances south of our local area. Significant rainfall is not expected locally although showers will be possible Tuesday.

02/08/2023

A heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. this evening. Our prolonged summer heatwave continues with plenty of sunshine and highs between 100 and 103 degrees this afternoon. High fire dangers exist across the Hill Country due to the ongoing drought, low afternoon humidity, occasional gusty winds and hot temperatures. No rainfall relief is expected in the short term. Fair to partly cloudy skies continue overnight with lows in the 70s.
