We are starting to get an abundance of eggs from our free range chickens.
shades of brown and white, No green yet. We will be selling them for 5.00 per dozen
We decided to start something new this year!
Punch cards!!
So for every 10 dozen eggs you buy you will get your 11th dozen free.
Stay tuned for new info in the next couple days!!
As always we will take empty egg cartons!

Well I think there's no repairing her this time..the last picture is of my pot bellied pig snuggled in where the shed used to be..we are gonna have to break down and build a new one finally. I had a mamma and her 7 new chicks sleeping in the pot bellied pig pen next to the shed where that large wood box is. I hope they ran away(hopefully not behind the shed) before the shed blew over.

Hello people! I haven't posted in a bit so I thought I'd start with eggs!
We have had an abundance of chicken eggs,and my quail are just starting to lay. What does a person do with extra eggs? You ask?
Well, You can sell them of course. With the price of feed and supplies skyrocketing,you have to charge what they are worth..but they charge less at good ole wally world...
So...you have to do something with them..
How about putting some away for when the chickens quit laying in the winter.
Great idea Grangela! 😉I've done just that! So far I've water glassed 3 jars of 18 eggs=4.5 dozen
Pickled 4 quarts = 4 dozen
froze 1 bag of single eggs in muffin tin=1 dozen
And 1 bag of 2ggs in muffin tin =2 dozen.
So far that is 11.5 dozen. I'm going to do at least 3 more dozen frozen eggs and 3 more jars of water glassed eggs. For a grand total 15 dozen non pickeled eggs that should get us thru winter when my girls quit laying. I've Pickled before but the others are new to me so we will see .if they turn out crappy I guess the chickens will have eggs to eat this winter.
I will be doing posts about each type of egg and the pros and cons so follow along. Happy preserving!

Sooo...sorry long post alert.. We took off for omaha ate at Raising canes for my birthday walked thru menards and headed home..the wind is terrible.made a few stops in denison and got home to THIS⬇️(See pictures)..the shed is supposed to be sitting over the straw pile..at least it missed the tortoise shed and car trailer sitting behind it. It did wreck the little pen we had made on the west side of the shed..in the front yard a huge branch came down landed on the water tank,dented it and took out the string lights in the trees,just missing the new firepit grill we bought last year.We just cant have anything nice.lol . There were multiple totes and garbage cans in the ditch up against the fence that we had to gather up.
We also have an old self feeder that was enclosed ,the whole north side is flappin in the wind..I'll be surprised if it isn't off by morning or down... we were gonna head to the daughters house tomorrow..but not anymore..driving in the wind makes for car sick me and tight shoulders for the hubby from holding on to the wheel. And I'm sure there will be a little clean up tomorrow anyway if the wind lets up.. If anyone would like to get me anything for my birthday,a new shed would be nice😉..technically it's not for me it's for the donkeys,horses and cow and multiple chickens. I'll take cash large and small bills,even change lol lol😉🤑😝🤪 oh and Venmo don't forget venmo..

Say hi to our free range bunny! If anyone has any friends for him or her let me know, he has an apartment under the chicken house and needs a roommate.lol
Peachy the cat visits from time to time.lol and Grissom the pyrenese act like he doesn't notice either one of them.

Chicklets..lol
No they don't live in this basket.
They just hatched and were still in the incubator.My granddaughter wanted to play with them and this basket was a good way to transport them..the chicks kept pecking the the yellow spot on the black beaked ones.

K so day 3
Can't see the spot very well in the one picture but the other one seems bigger..this experiment may be a bust before I even get far...I can't tell if we have reflection or changes in the egg..we will go a couple more days. It will be easier to tell if they are doing anything if they start getting veins at 1 week.

TRYING TO HATCH A CHICKEN EGG WITHOUT A SHELL.
I had 2 chicken eggs get cracked while washing them..rather than toss them I decided to try to hatch them without a shell
Day 2
Did you know you can determine if an egg is fertile or not by looking at the germ spot? The germ spot is the white spot on the yolk. The non-fertile germ spot contains only the female's cells and looks like a solid white spot. In a fertile egg the germ spot contains both the female and male cells and looks like a bullseye.
They look fertile today!
