Eris's connection to suffering is clear: she personifies the destructive forces that lead to war, rivalry, and pain. In ancient texts, she is depicted as delighting in the chaos of battle and the suffering it brings, and is often linked with Ares, the god of war. Her presence is said to increase the moaning and misery of men, and she is described as a "giver of pain" and "nurse of tearful wars". I did not know any of this when I made up my stage name Exeris!!!! Someone told me years later!!! And my name also sounds like ExAres. Maybe I should be Exeris Exares? Fate? Destiny? Ex means out of, and Eris is the Greek goddess of strife, discord, and contention, and she is directly associated with the suffering that arises from conflict and war. Her actions, such as throwing the golden apple at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, are said to have instigated the Trojan War, a major source of suffering in Greek mythology. Eris is also described as the mother of many negative spirits that bring misfortune and pain to humanity. I didn't know anything about Eris when I made up Exeris, someone at a psytrance party in NYC explained what my name means, but it couldn't be more perfect fit for my life and my goal in life, as should be clear from all my posts!
