In a nation where the spirit of women has fueled and shaped communities, honoring their legacy is a celebration and reminder of a shared responsibility. From fearless heroines of fiction to the dedicated teachers shaping young minds, their resilience echoes through time, woven into the fabric of progress.

But honoring these women goes beyond remembrance. It’s about ensuring that the next generation carries this torch, lighting the way for a more just and inclusive society. This year’s closing program at Bicol Regional Science High School placed youth at the forefront of this advocacy.

Through student-driven initiatives, heartfelt performances, and hands-on workshops, the celebration highlighted that the future of gender equality rests in the hands of empowered youth.

𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞

Melbeth Ventura, the Araling Panlipunan (AP) Club President, opened the program with her welcoming remarks, setting the tone for a meaningful celebration. She shared that the club carefully planned diverse activities to ensure that students fully understood the importance of Women’s Month.

Planning came with challenges, as Ventura managed time constraints and scheduling conflicts by coordinating with teachers and adjusting to last-minute changes. Despite this, she shared that the most rewarding part for her and the AP Club was inspiring students to speak up and advocate for gender equality.

“A test of leadership, patience, and teamwork, but also a rewarding experience that strengthened my passion for advocacy,” said Ventura.

𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐜

To engage students, Ventura and the AP Club incorporated diverse performances, insightful speakers, and interactive activities. They also ensured that guests and speakers were accommodated properly, creating a smooth and welcoming environment.

While they aimed to involve all students in the workshops, the limited number of resource persons from the Albay Provincial Office meant only a select group could participate. What began as simple intermission numbers became an opportunity for Grade 7 and 8 students to showcase their talents while deepening their understanding of Women’s Month.

These performances allowed students to reflect on the issues that hinder progress for women, nurturing a deeper commitment to being part of the change. By embodying these stories, they demonstrated that awareness and advocacy go hand in hand.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐡

The event also featured speakers who brought valuable insights to the celebration. Linda P. Gonzalez, President of the National Federation of Women’s Clubs of the Philippines, emphasized the importance of leadership rooted in integrity and service. Professor Ramona Ines Bustamante-Raneses, a former Professor VI at Bicol University, inspired students by stating that “empowerment is not just a concept, but a call to action.”

Workshops on Taekwondo and Arnis were led by Police Corporals Sharmane H. Granatin and Jhomile Revilla Renolayan from the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company. Granatin, a decorated Taekwondo athlete, emphasized discipline and self-defense as forms of empowerment.

We are at an age where the next generation isn’t just standing by and waiting for change but are also actively leading it. Through young leaders like Melbeth Ventura, we witness the powerful impact of standing at the vanguard of advocacy for women in our nation.

United with the radiant hues of love, families of Bicol Regional Science High School celebrate Family Day 2025 with bright smiles paired with heaps of infectious laughter. This year’s theme, "One Brisayano Community of Young Leaders Observing Respect for Families United in Love," captured the core family values that make up the Filipino family. It recognized respect and aimed to foster strong, close-knit bonds between each member.

The event itself ranged from boisterous fun to the sanctity of faith, yet yielded the same results of bringing each family closer together.

𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬

The event started as a project by the School Parent-Teacher Association and was managed by the school’s Supreme Secondary Learner Government. By 6:30 A.M, everybody gathered at the Ligao City Pavillion in preparation for the event’s parade.

No heat could beat the rhythmic roars and high kicks and turns of the school’s very own Drum and Lyre Corps, who stood at the forefront of the parade. A performance that went through the roof with energies that set the stage for the day ahead.

Each grade level carried their own creatively designed banners which reflected the culmination of efforts poured in by every student in their grade. A sea of bright colors paraded the streets of Ligao and turned a simple walk into a loud declaration of togetherness.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲

After a morning of booming drums and an energy-inducing zumba session, the event seeped into a solemn Mass. Shared prayers, self-reflections, and hymns from the school choir filled the gymnasium. Every bowed head and intertwined hands acknowledged the guiding force that gives them the strength persevering through conflict.

Following this sacred pause was a slow ascent to lighthearted family fun, starting with a hearty potluck in each classroom. Parents shared stories as students mingled with their peers, carrying the rich Filipino tradition of comfort and belonging through warm meals.

Parents and children reunited through the love of play, rekindling each parent’s childhood with traditional games like “Patintero” and “Jack-N-Poy” and reminding them that they were once children too. “It was a special day for me and my mom to reconnect, reminding her of my childhood and giving us a chance to bond despite her busy schedule,” said Angeline Nograles, a student of 11-Ingenuity.

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞

The echoes of shared laughter lingered as chairs were collected and classrooms were cleaned. Families gathered for photo booths, immortalizing the moment and memories in a single click.

Family Day wasn’t just about spending a single day together in a different place besides home, it was about recognizing the people who’ve stood by and supported each other through love alone. It focused on the little things people often take for granted, reminding people of the gift of life and love whilst keeping it engaging.

And as the sun dipped low into the horizon and painted the skies with its own radiant beams, each family was left with the most powerful reminder that the colors that last the most in one's life are the ones painted by the love of family.

𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 | 𝐏𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚

𝐏𝐮𝐥𝐚’𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

Nakamit ng Pulang Angui ang parangal na best in props and costume, best in lead dancers, at best in moving choreography, samantalang nakamit ng Ibalong ang best in street dance at best in festival queen.

Bicol University - Students' Organization for Meteorology (BU-STORM) conducted "Tuklas Panahon: Unveiling the Wonders of Meteorology," a two-part school meteorology caravan on March 7, 2025, at Trillanes Building, Bicol Regional Science High School (BRSHS), attended by Grade 10 students.

The event aimed to introduce students to meteorology while enhancing their media and information literacy skills through two key sessions, fostering a deeper understanding of weather, climate, and the crucial role of meteorology in disaster resilience and public safety.

The first session, "Get to Know MET!", was led by BU-STORM President Jan Mcknere Pavia, who provided an overview of meteorology and the course itself, and Internal Vice President Johan Christine A. Alejo, who introduced the organization's mission, vision, and goals.

Meanwhile, the second session, "Tamang Panahon—Lakbay-Eskwela Laban sa Maling Impormasyon," led by Public Relations Officer Dan Christian M. Avila, tackled weather misinformation, media literacy, and the importance of verifying sources to combat the spread of false information.

Aside from Tuklas Panahon, BU-STORM also facilitates programs such as Free Telescope Viewing for National Astronomy Week 2025 and Weather Forecasting and Warnings initiatives.
