Goodbye Windows,
Hello Ubuntu (or any other linux distribution)!
My laptop has been performing weird under Windows recently. Random BSODs, funny stutters when playing games, non-working USB ports.
And then I thought: welp maybe it’s time to pull the trigger and jump into a Linux distro. Most of the stuff I’ve been doing on computers are either
a) is and can be done on the web and
b) has either linux native version or can be emulated thru Wine or Steam compatibility layer, Proton.
The results has been okay so far. At the cost of lower refresh rate (all linux distros exhibit the same problem on my laptop), I found that my system:
1. Running at lower temps
2. The bad USB port is usable again yeay
3. No more weird stutters
And games were running fine. Non Steam games such as Zenless Zone Zero is running fine using Lutris.
And most of my codings are done via Visual Code which has native Linux support.
Microsoft 365 that I subscribed to, all has browser version of it and it runs surprisingly well as long as I do not have to open complex Excel files lah hahaha.
I’ll try to document my experiences with Ubuntu if I have the time.
Have a great day everyone! 😁
