The anglerfish is a deep-sea fish known for its unique appearance and fascinating hunting adaptations. It belongs to the order Lophiiformes and is famous for the bioluminescent lure that protrudes from its head, which it uses to attract prey in the dark ocean depths.

Bioluminescent Lure: A fleshy, glowing appendage (called the esca) dangles from the top of its head. This lure contains light-producing bacteria and acts as bait to draw prey close enough for the anglerfish to ambush.
