Nov 13...tonight, nine years ago would be David's last. It was a Sunday. It was a nice day of church, visiting furniture stores, hit a drive through pizza, went home for studying, and homemade bacon burgers before it was time to bring Toria home. Little would anyone expect what that evening would turn into.
It was super cold, snow, ice. Maybe he went off the road? David did not show up on time. He always showed up on time or called. I called several times - no answer. Let's go look for him. We called Toria and everyone who may have heard from David. No answers.
We ran into a trooper who said he would keep an eye out. We stopped at the Trooper station in Palmer. Toria called people - even one of the murderers who lied.
The next 19 days were full of searching and lots of emotions.
Nov 13th. Playing the scene of what David went through at the hands of the four murderers is a torment in itself.
Last night I mentioned what today was and that it marks 9 years. I was reminded the next several years we spent at the courthouse. Numerous hearings, the trials, the reliving, the holding ourselves together.
I will mention 2 take-aways:
1. The murderers are incarcerated carving a life for themselves and then some - but, not David.
2. Each of you, old and new friends, the community, church, troopers, district attorney, David's friends, family, so many, your support has been critical in getting us through this. It has not been easy on so many people. We have greatly appreciated everyone's involvement and prayers and comments. Our hearts are with those who have also lost a loved one...violence, su***de, still missing, natural causes, accidents.
