City of San Diego cracked down on electric bikes Tuesday when the City Council set 12 as a minimum age for usage and banned double-riding unless an e-bike has a permanent second seat for a passenger.

Supporters hailed the move as a sensible way to keep young people safe and decrease collisions between e-bikes and pedestrians, but critics said it won’t solve the most glaring e-bike problems and could discourage usage.

City leaders say the goal is boosting safety for young people and pedestrians, but acknowledge more laws are needed.

Picked up a rather unique single speed conversion. I believe it's a 1989 C.B.T. (Costruzione Biciclette Tardivo) Italia. It's made of Reynolds 501 SL tubing, so is quite light weight. You'll note the "crimped" seat tube to achieve sharper and quicker handling.

I rode it today quite the distance and it performed great!

I bought a 1984 Gitane after seeing it at the San Diego Velodrome Swap Meet yesterday.

It caught my eye as Gitane was the first pro team that Greg LeMond rode for 1981–1984 (Renault–Elf–Gitane).
