Travel News Tuesday ‼️

Southwest Airlines’ new travel policies will take effect on May 28, 2025. Key changes include the introduction of checked baggage fees, ending the long-standing “Bags Fly Free” policy, and the addition of a Basic Economy fare class. These changes apply to flights booked on or after May 28, 2025.   

Specific details about the new baggage fees have not been disclosed yet. Passengers in premium fare classes or elite loyalty program members will still receive free checked bags.  

Additionally, Southwest plans to transition from its open seating policy to assigned seating by early 2026. 

For the most current information, it’s advisable to check Southwest Airlines’ official communications or contact their customer service directly.
