I'm an audio Tech with my own home studio and here is a lesson, I've learned the hard way. My time is more valuable than saving money on cheaper types of audio gear. This message is to anyone interested in recording, mixing or mastering. First, do your research on whatever you purchase, not reviews from the companies that make the products, but by those who actually use the gear.
Second, don't cheap out on gear, if you can't get pro gear, save up until you can, buying so so audio gear, including cables, etc. should be quality not just what you can afford at the moment....If you do settle you will regret it and end up spending much more in the long run. I did this at one time and regretted it big time.
Here is just an instance, I purchased vocal mics not garbage by any means but not doing my research I ended up wasting many hrs. trying to fix problems that could not be fixed due to the mics I used. So spending more time researching and maybe a bit more money saved me hundreds of hrs of wasted time. This applies to plugins, hardware, cables, your computer and DAW.....You don't have to spend crazy money to get great results in your studio....You do have to spend crazy hrs on research....
