FRANCE completes a Stunning Comeback!
France had a mountain to climb as they entered the Stade de France for the UEFA Nations League quarter-final second leg, trailing Croatia by two goals from the first leg. Right from kickoff, Les Bleus came out with intent, piling pressure on the Croatian defense, but their opponents stood firm, blocking every attempt.
The breakthrough finally came in the 52nd minute when Michael Olise curled a stunning free-kick into the top corner, sending the home fans into a frenzy. France kept pushing, dominating possession, and their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when Ousmane Dembélé calmly slotted in the second goal to level the aggregate score.
Despite relentless attacks, Croatia held on, forcing the match into extra time. With neither side finding the net in the additional period, the game headed to a tense penalty shootout. French goalkeeper Mike Maignan emerged as the hero, making two crucial saves. Then, Dayot Upamecano stepped up with confidence and buried the winning spot-kick, sealing a 5-4 victory for France.
Les Bleus are now through to the semi-finals, where they will face Spain. The road to glory continues!
