Firstly hope everyone got home safe last night! Thanks to MI commission for putting this on last night.
Just a quick run down on what I’d thought of last night but a more detailed version will be on the podcast tonight.
- Too many classes
That was a spicy section of the night that’s for sure. We’ve 3 main engines of Rotax, IAME and T4. Only one of them is properly succeeding which is T4 although it was never really spoke about how maybe they’ve also too many classes? T4 junior to Senior is succeeding but the bambino class is up against an already flooded bambino market of Comer, IAME and MightE. I believe we still should only have the 1 or 2 in the country.
T4 Mini is in similar boat as it’s competing against IAME, two Rotax classes and now we’ve maybe IAME restricted coming in around 2027?! Yet that very same bunch reckons we’ve too many classes in Mini classes.
In my ideal world why can’t both IAME and Rotax work? Maybe we could have - IAME Bambino ( which can compete UKC, TKC and MI ). Micro Rotax ( UKC, MI ) for those younger kids. IAME ( MI, TKC, UKC? ) which ever package they’ll go in 2027.
To expand on the Bambino class, we’re missing out on bigger grids and great little drivers! I think it would need some lottery system with engines though to control costs.
Senior wise I think Rotax and IAME works fine. Junior wise I think Rotax need to pull a solid 10 minimum to work.
- T4 in TKC
Ok this is a short one. They’ve not the room unless they drop classes, and to be fair they kind of need it but Tillotson had made it clear in the past they don’t attend TKC events. That means no technical support or parts.
- Calendar
That’s for the podcast. But fair play to everyone for fighting for more! But realistically I think we need to drop classes to make it work.
Before we get excited about Nutts Corner that won’t happen in 2026. They’ve their allocated dates filled already I believe.
PR -
That rant is for the podcast.
Overall the meeting was decent, some topics we made progress and others we’ve only gone in circles. But mini teams of people have been set up to try sort out the issues.
Was the meeting useful, vote below.
