For today’s musician spotlight, we’re shouting out Bettyjeane Quimby! She’s been on several HCR releases, playing bass clarinet and baritone saxophone for new original music by Bobby Selvaggio and Aidan Plank.
Here, she shares her thoughts on Aidan & his upcoming release “Where We Started.”

Bettyjeane Quimby holds a BM in Music Education (2005) and an MM in Music Performance (2012) from Cleveland State University, where she won the graduate concerto competition performing a jazz clarinet concerto with the University Orchestra.
For over two decades, she has performed with diverse ensembles throughout Northeast Ohio, including the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, Great Lakes Theater, Sammy DeLeon y Su Orchesta, the Lakewood Hometown Band, and The Dazzle Awards. Her career highlights include sharing the stage with The Temptations, The O’Jays, Johnny Mathis, and most notably, The DIVA Jazz Orchestra in Maurice Hines is Tappin’ Thru Life. In 2022, she was invited to perform the Artie Shaw Concerto for Clarinet at the International Clarinet Association (ICA) conference in Reno, Nevada, honoring her former clarinet professor, Theodore Johnson.
Since 2024, Bettyjeane has been selected yearly as Volunteer Event Staff for the Registration Team at the International Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference, where she checks in large groups and participants daily. In 2025, she was hired as an Administrative Assistant and On-Site Registration Coordinator with JEN, assisting in project-based work in preparation for the 2026 conference in New Orleans.
