Who's watching 'Reformed' on Max? The first episode impressed with its accurate-seeming depiction of a woman in Strasbourg who becomes a Reform rabbi, and subsequent episodes have shown great heart and love for Judaic practice. (And it's interesting to see Jewish ritual rendered in Hebrew and French.) However...there are little things creeping in that don't seem accurate. For instance, there's a conversation about the tallit being connected to the story of Noah's sons covering up their father to preserve his dignity, which Esther never heard before and neither did the internet. EDIT — THERE'S A SOURCE FOR THIS! EXCITING. The writers apparently really did their homework. Extra impressed right now.

Have you seen it? Any thoughts?

Welcome to The Prince of Egypt season! It's crazy how sometimes a delayed episode (which we recorded a few weeks ago) ends up becoming more relevant because of the delay. This week, Erin Cooper and Esther Kustanowitz sat down with friend and colleague Tzivia Schwartz Getzug, who was a consultant for DreamWorks' iconic animated film The Prince of Egypt. With its star-studded cast — including the late Val Kilmer, who died this week after years of health challenges — stunning visuals, and unforgettable soundtrack, The Prince of Egypt was a landmark in animated storytelling, and now Tzivia takes us all (you too!) behind the scenes of the epic retelling of the Exodus story, and shared memories of her role in shaping the film’s extensive outreach to faith communities. It's our deep dive, with minimal spoilers and lots of dissection of characters, actions and how Jewish life and a rabbi's responsibility to the community is represented in the new Netflix rom-com. Erin Cooper & Esther Kustanowitz had a great time with this one; hear our conversation here or wherever you get your podcasts!

Nobody Wants This? More like somebody wants this!
