Marilyn: Behind the Icon
A brand new upcoming dramatic podcast series based on the book “ICON: The Life, Times, and Films of Marilyn Monroe” Volumes 1 and 2.
She began her life as a young girl named Norma Jeane — a girl desperate for a stable family and home life. She was a girl seeking to find her place, a girl nobody wanted, who grew up in the care of foster families and caretakers. As a young teen searching for her identity, she became determined to make something of herself and created a life born out of her dreams, imagination, and talent. Marilyn became a top cover girl model, a young starlet, a celebrated actress, an accomplished singer and dancer, a wife, aspiring mother, a producer, and ultimately, a legend — an enduring ICON.
This scripted podcast is the first of its kind as it blends a narrative format with a scripted story -- combining in depth research of historical events as told from the actress's own perspective in her own words, in addition to the views of the people around her during her life and death. The series will explore the human side of the star. We'll highlight the tragedy and pain and celebrate the resilience and triumphs of the life, legend, and global phenomenon known as Marilyn Monroe -- the ultimate ICON.
There have been many movies, TV shows, documentaries, and books about Marilyn’s life. So you may be thinking, why examine Marilyn’s life again?
Why should we care? How can we possibly tell her story any differently?
In order to answer that question, we need to get personal for just a moment. We, the producers of this podcast, love Marilyn Monroe and her films, and for the past several years, have been on a journey of celebrating her life and legacy through a motion picture project called “Goodnight Marilyn”, a blend of fact and fiction, and a podcast series titled “Goodnight Marilyn Radio”, which looked into the circumstances of her death in detail and some parts of her life story. We’ve had a tremendous response with the radio show reaching more than 500,000 listeners from all over the world.
Marilyn fans have been really appreciating startling new information we’ve been uncovering. We’ve also put on several events in Los Angeles for fans that have been covered by major media and attended by Hollywood celebrities.
We’ve done interviews with many who knew her personally who are still alive, assembled a team of investigators to look into the circumstances of her death, all the while having a goal of bringing out a clearer understanding of the inner life of the woman herself — as the resilient survivor of childhood abuse & neglect—and the woman who struggled to overcome intergenerational mental illness & the negative impact of her childhood trauma.
This podcast will be so different than anything you have ever heard before on Marilyn’s life.
We hope that you will join us for this upcoming worldwide podcast. It’s based on biographer Gary Vitacco Robles’ book ICON: The Life, Times and Films of Marilyn Monroe.
Stay tuned as it will be quite a Marilyn adventure!
