The Black Lemur, will occasionally capture a large red millipede, also found on Madagascar—but not to eat. Instead, they will bite the millipede gently, and throw it back on the ground. This is the lemur equivalent of taking a b**g hit. There is a purpose to this: the chemical secretion works as a natural pesticide and wards off mosquitos. However, it also acts as a narcotic, which causes the lemur to salivate and enter a state of intoxication.

Today’s Fun Fact: There is an island called “Just Enough Room”, where there’s just enough room for a tree and a house. Napoleon was defeated by a herd of rabbits. In July of 1807 a rabbit hunt was organised for Napoleon with hundreds of rabbits trapped and caged to be later released. However when released, they unexpectedly “charged” the Emperor in such numbers that he was forced to retreat to the safety of his carriage.
