The trip from Siliguri to Darjeeling by car often takes three hours, depending on traffic and the state of the roads. The distance is roughly 73 kilometres.

From Siliguri, there are two main roads that lead to Darjeeling:

The most used route passes via the towns of Kurseong and Ghoom, and it is National Highway 55. You will pass past beautiful tea gardens and forests on the well-kept route. Most tourists favour using this route.

Hill Cart Road: This is a detour that passes through Darjeeling's scenic hills. Although the route is more winding and narrow, the scenery is magnificent. It is only advised for experienced drivers to take this road.
From Siliguri to Darjeeling, you can take a private cab, a shared taxi, or a bus. In Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus, Bagdogra Airport, and Siliguri Junction Railway Station, private cabs are freely accessible. Shared taxis are accessible from Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminal and Siliguri Junction. Bus service is also available between Siliguri and Darjeeling, however it is not as common as taxi service.
You will pass through tea gardens, woodlands, and mountainous terrain as you go via the cities of Kurseong and Ghoom. King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty is credited with building the temple in 1250 CE.
What is left of the temple complex, which is devoted to the Hindu Sun God Surya, resembles a 100-foot (30-meter) high chariot with enormous wheels and horses that are all made of stone. A substantial portion of the temple, which formerly stood more than 200 feet (61 metres) tall, is now in ruins, especially the huge shikara tower over the sanctuary, which once rose much higher than the mandapa that still exists. The buildings and components that have endured are renowned for their elaborate iconography, motifs, and artwork, which includes sensual k**a and mithuna scenarios. It is also known as the Surya Devalaya and is a well-known example of Kalinga or Odisha architecture.

In our case, it may have been somewhat accurate as we had no idea or plans to visit Puri, but everything was arranged at the last minute. The hotel, the journey, and all the rest.
