UPDATE: First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has appealed to people in Busoga to support President Museveni and the NRM in the upcoming elections, stressing party unity and collective victory. She said Busoga’s development gains and unfinished projects can only be realized under NRM leadership.
Kadaga, an influential figure in Busoga, urged voters to put aside divisions and back the party ticket for continued investments and accountability.
Though a longtime NRM member, Kadaga’s relationship with Museveni has seen tensions, especially during internal party contests. She has accused some Busoga leaders of betraying her and undermining her rise within the party. Kadaga has also criticized corruption and favoritism, creating rifts in the region’s NRM bloc.
Despite these challenges, she has remained loyal to the party and continues to push its agenda in Busoga. Her latest call is seen as key to regaining support in a region where NUP has been gaining ground. She made the remarks after Museveni’s nomination as a presidential candidate for the 2026 elections
