Teasing their 50th anniversary, the “50 Things to Do at Chattahoochee Nature Center ” is designed to encourage the community to experience the beauty of CNC all year long. 🦉 🌳 It kicks off this month during the popular Halloween Hikes event and runs through June of next year.

Activities range from canoeing and hiking to participating in art projects and wildlife encounters. Those who complete 45 of 50 listed activities can submit their challenge tracker with a photo for the chance to win prizes.

The long-anticipated exhibit, silent auction, and fundraiser, Norcross Shapes, is on display at Norcross Gallery and Studios ! 🎨 This annual event raises funds for exhibits, community events, and classes throughout the year and also helps provide support for local art, artists, and culture.

Guests are invited to visit Norcross Gallery & Studios throughout October to enjoy the exhibit and bid on the works that they love. Final bidding will take place at 2 PM on November 2 at the closing festivities. City of Norcross - Government

Lanier High School senior, Mariah Lewis, has organized a unique fall fundraising event for the community! “What Haunts Us – A Night of Poetry” is a Halloween-themed, county-wide poetry slam taking place on October 17 as part of Gwinnett County’s Great Days of Service.

The evening event will feature raw performances from young poets and aims to bring together students, families and community members in support of Tabitha’s House, an organization that provides vital resources for survivors of trafficking.

City of Dunwoody Parks & Recreation has been recognized among the best in Georgia for the 5th consecutive year. 🏆 🌳 The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association named the department District 6 Agency of the Year during its annual awards banquet earlier this month.

In 2025, Dunwoody Parks and Recreation focused on making programs and events more inclusive by adding Special Pops Tennis, Adaptive Soccer and several therapeutic programs. The department also invested in new public art installations, like “Reflections” at Two Bridges Park.

Park improvements include a new playground at Waterford Park, four SaveStations equipped with life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and a new Veterans Memorial that’s scheduled to be completed in time for Veterans Day.

Explore Gwinnett has announced the 9th annual ARTober Gwinnett, a monthlong celebration of the county’s arts, culture, and community! 🎨

This year’s 31 days of programming also includes the return of “Not Your Mother’s Art Fest” in Lawrenceville. Named the 2025 Best New Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Festivals & Events Association, “Not Your Mother’s Art Fest” will take place tomorrow, October 10, from 6 PM to 10 PM at Slow Pour Brewing Company. 🍻 🧑‍🎨
