This is Ocho. Ocho lives in my bathroom and loves hanging out on my orchid plant. Every day, I soak a Q-Tip in water and place it wherever he is—on the plant, behind the toilet, or on the vanity—and he eagerly comes over for a drink. Did I feel the urge to smash him when I first saw him? No. Flush him down the toilet? No. Burn everything down? Absolutely not.

Ocho is tiny compared to me. I could easily end his life, but instead, I choose kindness. He has just as much of a right to exist on this earth as I do—if not more. In fact, he plays a far greater role in maintaining the natural balance of life than I ever could.

Choosing kindness is easy. I urge everyone to take a moment to rethink the language and feelings they associate with spiders, insects, or rodents. These creatures are not pests, nor are they threats. Let them be. If possible, help them. Choose kindness. It’s the simplest thing you can do. 🕷

Viggo Mortensen became so fond of the horse he rode in the Lord of the Rings series that he bought it from the owner after filming. He also bought the horse used by Arwen's stunt double in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring when it was put up for auction and GAVE IT TO THE STUNT DOUBLE because she couldn't afford it herself.

The famous MGM lion logo has had many faces over the years, but particularly touching is the story of “Jackie,” the studio's second lion. In 1928, Jackie was filmed for the first time - and his majestic roar was the first that audiences could hear in an MGM film.

Jackie was used to people and was always looked after lovingly by his trainer. He was allowed to move freely during filming to avoid stress. This special consideration for animal welfare was remarkable at a time when this was not yet a given.

Jackie's roar was recorded on a gramophone as films at the time were transitioning from silent to talkies. His iconic image still represents the beginnings of cinema - and reminds us of the importance of treating animals with respect and care.

Tommy Woodcock, a renowned trainer and horse whisperer, had a special bond with his stallion Reckless, the favorite for the Melbourne Cup that year. The image, taken by photographer Bruce Postle, impressively shows the deep connection between humans and animals.

Postle described the scene this way: “He looked at Reckless and Reckless looked at him. Without a word, the big stallion lowered his head and rested it on Tommy's chest. Tommy scratched his neck and the horse closed his eyes - that was it. I took two photos and that was all.”

Woodcock's skill and dedication were admired by many, including Ros Neave, who was impressed by his ability to lead several two-year-old horses around the track at the same time, calmly and with concentration. This story and iconic photo are a symbol of the unique connection between a trainer and his horse and a testament to Woodcock's gentle and respectful treatment of animals.

A breathtaking moment in nature! 🌊🐋

Off the west coast of Australia, National Geographic photographer Tom Cannon took a spectacular shot: a 12-meter-long, 20-ton whale shark appears majestically under a tourist boat. This gentle giant, the largest fish on earth, only appears for a short time each year - a rare natural spectacle that makes this photograph an extraordinary insight into his world.

Max was a happy dog, always by his family's side – until one morning he disappeared without a trace. Years passed, but his owner, Caroline, could never forget him. She searched everywhere, distributed flyers, and called animal shelters, but Max remained missing. Hope faded, but she never completely gave up on him.

One day, at an animal shelter, she heard about a stray, severely malnourished dog who had been found in terrible condition. Something in the description made her heart race. Could it really be Max?

When she saw him, he was emaciated, his coat damaged, his eyes tired from the fight for survival. But the moment their eyes met, she knew: It was Max. Despite all the time, all the suffering, he recognized her immediately.

Caroline took him in her arms, tears streaming down her face. After all these years, he was finally home. Max was no longer the lost, scared dog – he was a fighter who had made it.

Today, he is once again surrounded by love and security. The lost years no longer matter – only the future matters. Max is finally where he belongs. Forever.
