Newsom’s plan to bring the “election rigging response act” to a special election on November 4, 2025 will cost the taxpayers of California. County-Level Expenses: Counties handle ballot printing, mailing, voter outreach, polling place operations, and vote counting. A special election, like the one scheduled for November 4, 2025, is estimated to cost California taxpayers approximately $250 million, according to Republican Rep. Kevin Kiley. This covers logistics for all 58 counties, including staff, equipment, and voter materials.
