When I first started the magazine, I was on a journey of rediscovery...not only of myself but of the world around me. I had been living so furiously for so long that, one day, while walking, I suddenly stopped and noticed the leaves, trees, and flowers. It was like I had never seen them before, despite walking and driving by them daily. It grieved me that I lived so long without ever noticing the details of the world around me. Ever since then, I've attempted to slow down and take in the WONDER OF DETAIL.

WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND TODAY? What do you dream about or where do you imagine yourself to BE yourself? God made you perfectly. The struggle comes when we try to alter who we are from our God-designed purpose.

I love all things dreamy, introspective, still, and quiet.

Sometimes I love bright colors other times I prefer muted, filtered, and natural tones—or in this case, a combination of both: dark, stark, melancholy with a punch of pop.

I love dresses but I also love going barefoot and putting my hands in the dirt. I snapped this image today and realized it perfectly captures ME. Being outside, writing, colors, but also a dreamy setting sitting in the shadows of deeply bowed trees, a lovely stream, and aged, mossy benches.

What do you love? If you could place yourself into a storybook, what would it be? What is it that attracts you to it? Learn about yourself, who you are. Don't be like me (unless you are like me) but let this inspire you to find who you are and thank God for who you are. 🥰

Laura, here. How about a little reintroduction? 😎

I'm not great with social media...I'd rather be writing and designing than keeping up with what's the latest algorithm or viewable trend. 😂 I'm from Colorado but currently live in Missouri. Our home has a stunning view of Table Rock Lake, on which I love to kayak. 🛶

I started Paola Lane Magazine in early 2022, and I've found my calling! 🥰 It's everything my heart hungers for...it's an exploration of life, finding wisdom in the little things, and allowing nature and experiences to reveal more profound spiritual truths, with the help of the Holy Spirit. I see God revealing Himself in everything, and it makes life so interesting!

Within the last 3 years, I've learned the value of CREATIVE REST. Plus, I love art and creators of every sort!

I challenged myself to learn how to paint during the design of Issue No. 6. Since then, I've fallen in love with painting, especially watercolor.🎨 And this week, I picked up charcoal for the first time (I'm thinking charcoal sketching might quickly overtake the watercolors! 😂 👩‍🎨 ).

When I started publishing, I had zero experience, but I learned to observe and learn. With each edition of the magazine, I increase my skill as a writer and designer.

I've chosen to create this magazine (really, it's bookazine!) and continue doing so, not to prove or specifically achieve anything, but as a way to express... LIVING. ←🦋 I do it as a way to share the intrigue and beauty of life and how God (Yahweh) masterfully reveals Himself in it all (and because I have this insatiable urge to share everything I discover and learn 😂).

Writing, designing, creating...this magazine is my sculpture, my canvas, my worship and expression of my love of Adonai from a place of realness. I became tired of the religious cloak of perfection I'd been wearing my entire life; it was exhausting. Instead, I set out on a journey to rediscover God, myself, what intimacy and being His friend looked like, and the beauty of LIVING—and I'm compelled to share it with others.

Sometimes a change of scenery is what we need. 🙌 This is my new office for the next month (inside and outside)! 😍

I'm on mom duty for the next 4 weeks as I drive my son back and forth to the college for a summer class. It's just far enough of a drive that I need to hang around for a few hours but at least the college has an amazing coffee shop and lush grounds. It's so beautiful here...and even better...no "home" distractions! 🤣

I'll be digging in to my research for Issue No. 12 while I'm here. More info will come out soon. Be sure you are on my weekly Wednesday Meditations email (it's FREE!) to be inspired and keep up with the latest happenings.

Our soul is a filter to everything. It is influenced, can be filled and emptied; the soul can also be wounded and healed. The soul is our personality and the innermost part of our soul contains our motives and the deepest part of our heart. The soul can prosper and flourish but also be in turmoil and downcast. Our soul needs constant attention to keep it well. So...what FILLS your soul so that it can be whole?
