Stop calling every freelancer a VA.

Naranasan mo na din ba 'to?

Them: ano work mo?
Me: Freelance Social Media Manager po, work from home
Then: ahh VA ka, ganiyan din yung kakilala ko
Me: ahh hindi po ako VA, Social Media Manager po
Them: Sana all VA, wfh na easy money pa

and my reaction is always >>> 😊😊😊

People always lump “work from home” and “freelancing” into the same bucket as “VA.”

Pero eto yung totoo:

👉 WFH (Work From Home) → This is just the location. You can be a freelancer, consultant, or corporate employee. WFH is not a job title.

👉 Freelancing → You’re self-employed. You pick clients, projects, and rates. No fixed boss.

👉 VA (Virtual Assistant) → This is one type of freelancing. Usually admin, support, or online business tasks.

👉 SMM (Social Media Manager/Marketing) → This is a specialized service under VA. Not all VAs do SMM, and not all SMMs call themselves VAs.

REMINDER:
Not all WFH freelancers are VAs. But many VAs are WFH. And SMM is just one branch under the VA umbrella.

The clearer you are with your title, the easier it is for clients to respect your rates.
