Somewhere in the back, "Dueling Banjos" starts to play - I don't want to jump the gun, but preliminary impressions are very, very good 🤘✌️ "Unit" is the right word for this Field Unit. Right out of the box, it is the most stable of the portable workstands I have ever used. Looking forward to giving you the full take after some hard work 🎬

🛠 Professional tools are an investment as a mechanic, but they are also an investment for the companies that develop them and, in turn, improve the industry. When you buy a tool, you are not only getting that tool - you are endorsing the company that made it. It is tempting to shop bottom dollar, but if those companies aren't supporting the industry, that dollar is lost. Buying from companies who care brings that investment back to you in more ways than one.

My philosophy is "support the brands that support you" - new video on the highlighting some of the great tool companies in this industry. Not exhaustive by any means, but a good start!

🪦 A bittersweet end to my aluminum spray bottle - we had a nice 3 years together 🥲 One last shot before it jumped into the recycling bin. As for what happened 🤷‍♀️ ?? I had one of those big refill stations of their bike wash, and that was what I used. The nozzle quit, maybe because of the debris inside. The hole was less obvious until the neoprene bottom was removed.

Something interesting must have caused a chemical reaction leading to corrosion - that is the mystery! Nice while it lasted though, maybe a few plastic bottles saved along the way 🤘

🤘 Some days are normal, and some days you end up in a high-performance engine lab for a few hours... 🤩 Full scale machine shop, one of the nicest set ups I've seen. Even the small details. For example, this is a $2500 tool that measures surface roughness - mostly absent from the bicycle industry (I could see a bearing manufacturing application ?) but for my fellow people who love tools for the sake of tools. In environments where consistency is key (in this case cylinders and engine block mating surfaces) it's important that the average deviation of the surface is set to a certain standard to avoid blown gaskets, busted rings, etc). It's not as simple as the good ol' days cross hatching an old cylinder manually with a ball hone in a handheld drill.... but I digress.

Go visit other mechanical industries - there are lessons to be learned there, if not just for FUN 💪 🔧🗜

👀 Look what we have here - more impressions to come on these new UPcoming lever UPgrades for their sweet Bike Lift... a great example of "we hear you" iterative improvement. 💪 Update video to come with time, but super stoked on them for now 🙌

I've been caught up with the ((work that pays the bills)) recently, possibly-absolutely neglecting my tool responsibilities but CHECK THIS OUT - bumped into while working and got to see their portable bleed cup in person. What a rad idea 🤘🤘🤘 With the two sizes keeping the same form factor as a CO2, it's a great idea. 10/10 👏
