African Regional Bodies 🌍

[Technical term : Regional Economic Communities]

The African Union (AU) is vast!
To help out, smaller regional groupings of countries support the AU in its goal to integrate the continent politically, economically & socially.

So what do they actually do ?

➡️Respond faster to conflicts (I.e SADC in northern Mozambique 🇲🇿 or EAC in Eastern DRC🇨🇩)

➡️They make cross-border trade easier by establishing common markets and aim to have a single currency (i.e the Eco of Ecowas)

➡️Most RECs have free travel areas for themselves (‘visa free’) and foreigners (i.e KAZA tourist Visa in the SADC) and aspire to have one common passport
