A chilling discovery in Matapi, Mbare, has sent shockwaves through the community after the body of an unidentified man was found in a pumpkin field near the Mukuvisi River, with flesh missing from one leg and hair stripped from parts of his scalp.
The disturbing find has left residents deeply unsettled, as police launch a full-scale investigation into what they suspect is a murder case.
Horrific Discovery in Matapi
According to police, the man’s body was discovered covered with a cloth. His left leg was severely mutilated, with flesh missing from the thigh down to the foot. Officers also reported multiple wounds on the right leg and chest, and parts of the scalp where hair appeared to have been forcibly removed.
Police Seek Answers
The remains have been taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Detectives are now working to establish the man’s identity and determine how he died.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Fear in the Community
The case has reignited concerns about safety in Matapi, an area long associated with poverty, overcrowding, and sporadic violent incidents near the Mukuvisi River.
“People are scared. We’ve never seen anything like this,” said one resident.
