EXTENDED DEADLINE: The 2025 New American Fiction Prize will accept submissions through Tuesday, JULY 15, 2025.

Winner receives $1500, a publication contract, and promotional support. All full-length fiction manuscripts are welcome, including story collections, novels, novellas, collections of novellas, flash fiction collections, novels in verse, and other hybrid forms.

CLANCY MARTIN, author of How to Sell: A Novel and Travels in Central America, will serve as final judge. Martin's essays and short fiction have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, The New Republic, The New York Times, The Atlantic, VICE, and elsewhere. Martin teaches at the University of Missouri in Kansas City and Ashoka University.

We are pleased to announce that Nikki Wallschlaeger has selected MICHELLE ALEXANDER's manuscript "A Stone's Throw from Cray" to receive the 2024 New American Poetry Prize! Ms. Alexander will receive $1500 and her book is scheduled for release in fall 2025.

The 2025 New American Poetry Prize has extended its submission deadline through February 3. Final judge will be Sara Eliza Johnson. Click below for more details!

She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Rona Jaffe Foundation, and the VCCA, among other honors. She is currently an associate professor at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
