Gasoline and kerosene prices may increase next week, while diesel prices could see a rollback, based on the latest movement in international oil prices.
The Department of Energy (DOE) estimated that gasoline could rise by around ₱1.50 per liter, while kerosene may increase by ₱2 per liter. Diesel, meanwhile, could drop by around ₱1 per liter.
DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau director Rino Abad said the estimates were based on the average movement of international oil prices over the past four trading days. However, he noted that the adjustments could still change depending on developments in the global oil market and geopolitical situation.
An oil industry source gave a slightly different estimate, saying gasoline could increase by ₱1.50 to ₱1.80 per liter, while diesel could decrease by ₱0.50 to ₱0.80 per liter.
The recent volatility in oil prices has been linked to supply concerns, including developments in the Middle East and China’s announcement that it would temporarily suspend exports of refined petroleum products to Asia-Pacific buyers.
The DOE also warned that the supply concerns could continue putting pressure on local fuel prices.
