The recent news story about a dog at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport involves a heartwarming (and initially heartbreaking) incident that went viral.
On February 2, 2026, a woman (identified as Germiran Bryson in reports) allegedly abandoned her 2-year-old mini goldendoodle/mini poodle mix at the JetBlue airline ticket counter in Terminal 3. She tied the dog to a baggage sizer and left after being denied boarding because she lacked proper documentation to fly with the dog as a service animal. Surveillance video captured the moment, and other travelers alerted authorities.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers responded, rescued the pup, and arrested the woman on charges including animal abandonment and resisting arrest. The dog, nicknamed “Jet Blue” (after the airline where he was left), was initially taken to animal control, then transferred to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas after a hold period.
The story drew massive attention, with the rescue group receiving thousands of adoption applications from around the world (over 2,400 reported at one point).
In a positive update just in the last day or so (as of February 21-22, 2026), Jet Blue has found his forever home—adopted by LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black, one of the officers who helped rescue him, along with Black’s family. Officer Black had already been approved to adopt a goldendoodle through the rescue earlier.
