Just like we can see, hear, taste, smell, and touch things around us, interoception is the sense that allows us to feel what’s happening inside our own bodies. It helps us notice and understand what’s going on inside our bodies, like our heart rate, breathing, hunger, or thirst. In sum, interception is like having an inner radar that lets us know how we’re feeling, so we can take care of ourselves and make choices that are good for our bodies.
