The Conservatives ran against “the Lost Liberal Decade” yet here we are with a fourth consecutive Liberal government, (third straight minority).
Isn’t it more appropriately the LOST CONSERVATIVE decade?
The Harper Conservatives campaigned against Justin Trudeau in 2015 saying: “He’s just not ready”.
(They weren’t wrong.)
But they couldn’t beat him in three elections. And it appears four conservative leaders weren’t equipped to cope with the ill-prepared Trudeau or his legacy.
Voters are always right. And elections are always forward thinking.
Yet Poilevre and the Conservative brain trust ran a campaign squarely focussed on the rear view mirror watching Trudeau disappear in the dust kicked up by their F150.
But Carney unexpectedly appeared in the mirror. And, as we all know, Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.
Before the Tories could respond, Carney blew past them.
He didn’t look back while the Conservatives hung on and hammered away at the “lost Liberal decade.”
