DC Srinagar conducts on site visit of Sanat Nagar Flyover, load testing underway for operationalisation of the flyover
SRINAGAR NOVEMBER 22:- Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Saturday conducted an on-site inspection of the Sanat Nagar Flyover to assess the pace and status of the ongoing work on the Rs 30 crore project aimed to decongesting traffic on the City’s busy bypass corridor.
SSP Traffic Police, Aijaz Ahmad; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid; Superintending Engineer R&B, Tetheer Manzoor; Executive Engineer R&B, Nasir Amin; Tehsildar Chanapora and other Officers and official accompanied the DC during the visit.
On the occasion, the DC reviewed the remaining works and inspected the concluding components of the project, which has entered its final stage of completion. He was further apprised that mandatory load testing of one tube has been already completed and second is expected to be done by tomorrow, paving the way for final finishing works. He was also informed that the installation of poles and lighting is also nearing completion, with only minor works pending before the structure becomes fully operational.
The DC directed the executing agencies to ensure expeditious completion of the remaining components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to expedite the final touches so the key infrastructure project is thrown open for public use at the earliest, in sync with the safety norms and testing.
The DC added that the completion of the flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the Sanat Nagar bypass corridor and provide major relief to the commuters.

Kashmiri Migrant students experience Beating Retreat at Suchetgarh Border
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 23: On the fifth day of World Heritage Week 2025, the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums, under the supervision of Director K.K. Sidha, organised an extensive visit to the Suchetgarh Border and Octroi Post for 51 students from Migrant School, Bohri.
The group was led by Assistant Director, Dr. Sangeeta Sharma.
The initiative was aimed to give students a firsthand connection to India’s border heritage, patriotic traditions and military discipline.
The visit began with students witnessing the Beating Retreat ceremony, which commenced with patriotic songs performed by Kishore Kumar, energizing the audience and encouraging the student participation through dance.
During the programme, Kalpana Chawla addressed the audience and shared insights about the strategic and cultural significance of the BSF Octroi Post.
The ceremony included a disciplined Dog Parade, the Brass Band led by Balwant Raj, the Women’s Marching Band under Rita Choudhary, demonstrations by Veer Commandos and coordinated performances supervised by Sub-Inspector Ashwani Kumar.
The ceremony concluded with the ceremonial lowering of the Indian flag by the Rashtriya Dhwaj Rakshak Toli under the command of Nandan Kumar.
Following the parade, the students visited nearly 200 year old Raghunath Ji Temple, believed to date back to the era of Maharaja Gulab Singh.

DM Shopian chairs DLSCC meeting for assistance of terror victims of district
Committee approves 2 cases for ex-gratia relief
SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 21: In continuation of ongoing efforts to swiftly process applications submitted by the next of kins (NoKs) of terror-affected victims for grant of assistance in their favour, a meeting of the District Level Screening-cum-Coordination Committee (DLSCC) was held under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Shishir Gupta here at Mini-Secretariat Shopian today.
The Committee conducted a comprehensive review of the cases submitted for compassionate appointment and ex gratia relief, by the next of kins (NoKs) of terror-affected victims in the district.
During the meeting, after thorough scrutiny of submitted cases, 02 eligible cases were approved for ex-gratia relief of Rupees 1 lakh each and 4 cases were recommended for compassionate appointments under SRO 43.
Other cases were advised for further review and completion of necessary pre-requisite norms and re submission before the committee for approval.
SSP, Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary; ADC, Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR, Shakoor Ahmad Dar, Tehsildars, officers from Army and CRPF were present in the meeting.

DC Baramulla chairs NRLM Review Meeting on SHG's Bank Linkage Targets
BARAMULLA, NOVEMBER 21: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), with a special focus on Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and their bank linkage achievements.
During the meeting, banks were directed to clear all pending SHGs credit cases within 15 days, while NRLM officials were instructed to sponsor additional cases to further strengthen financial inclusion and livelihood support.
Enhanced coordination between banks and NRLM teams was emphasized to ensure seamless SHGs credit linkages and achievement of targets. All concerned officers were also directed to submit weekly progress reports to monitor timely implementation.
The DC stressed the importance of collective effort in empowering SHGs and accelerating the district’s progress under the NRLM initiative.
