*Gold Recovered, Trust Restored: Stolen Property to Finds Its Way Back to Rightful Owner Through Court, Multiple Theft Cases Cracked by PS Gandhi Nagar – Accused Arrested, Stolen Property Worth Over ₹26.5 Lakhs Recovered*

In a significant breakthrough, Police Station Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SDPO South, SP South and overall supervision of SSP Jammu have successfully solved Multiple theft cases in South Zone. The swift action of the police has led to the arrest of Six accused persons in different cases and the recovery of stolen gold ornaments, batteries, and other items worth more than ₹26.5 lakhs.

*Case I – FIR No. 133/2025 u/s 331(2)/331(4)/305 BNS, PS Gandhi Nagar*

On 18/06/2025, a theft took place at Sector 04, Sanjay Nagar, Digiana. On the basis of a complaint lodged by Smt. Ritu Saini W/O Anil Saini R/O 149-A, Sector 04, Sanjay Nagar, Digiana, FIR No. 133/2025 was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.

Acting promptly, a special team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar under the close supervision of SDPO South apprehended the following accused involved in the theft of gold ornaments:

➢ Shubam S/O Lt Satish Kumar R/O Gurha Qasim Nagar, A/P Beli Charana, Jammu

➢ Sahil Kumar S/O Subash Chander R/O Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu

Two more receivers of stolen property were apprehended by police

Further investigation revealed that the same accused persons were also involved in several other theft cases. With their arrest, Gandhi Nagar Police successfully cracked the following FIRs as well, leading to further recoveries of gold and other stolen items:

•FIR No. 207/2024, PS Gandhi Nagar

•FIR No. 130/2025, PS Gandhi Nagar

•FIR No. 151/2025, PS Gandhi Nagar

•FIR No. 177/2025, PS Gandhi Nagar

•FIR No. 187/2025, PS Gandhi Nagar

•FIR No. 183/2025, PS Gandhi Nagar

On their disclosure, stolen property worth over ₹25 lakhs was recovered. The remarkable recovery of gold ornaments worth such a high value, has restored public confidence by retrieving stolen valuables for the complainant families.

*Case II – FIR No. 193/2025 u/s 331(4)/305 BNS, PS Gandhi Nagar*

In another case of theft from Government Quarters, Gandhi Nagar, a special team was constituted by SP City South, led by SHO Gandhi Nagar and supervised by SDPO City South. With persistent efforts and detailed examination of CCTV footage and Smart City cameras, the police successfully arrested the following accused persons:

➢ Sumit Athwal S/O Som Raj Athwal R/O Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu (Judicial Custody)

➢ Rohit Khokhar @ Rajan S/O Shinda Khokhar R/O Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu (Judicial Custody)

➢ Name withheld (minor) R/o Gandhi Nagar, Jammu (Juvenile – lodged in Observation Home)

➢ Mohit S/O Channa R/O Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu (Police Custody)

On their disclosure, 7 batteries and sanitary taps worth ₹1.5 lakhs were recovered.

*Additionally, in FIR No. 207/2024, a scooty worth ₹70,000 was also recovered*.

Jammu Police, South Zone, have once again demonstrated their commitment, efficiency, and professionalism in cracking down on theft and restoring stolen property to victims. All recoveries have been made possible due to sustained efforts, smart use of technology, and effective supervision at every level of the South Zone.

DC Udhampur reviews preparations for Sewa Parv-2025
UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 13: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today convened a meeting of officers from line departments to chalk out a comprehensive plan for the smooth celebration of the forthcoming “Sewa Parv” in the district. The fortnight-long celebration will be observed from September 17 to October 2, 2025 across Udhampur district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan DFO and other senior officers from various departments.
The Chief Planning Officer Udhampur Uttam Singh gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the proposed activities and programmes to be undertaken during the upcoming celebration.
Speaking at the meeting, the DC laid emphasis on department-wise planning for effective implementation. She called for special focus on cleanliness drives in public spaces and government offices, besides holding health and blood donation camps, engagement with elderly and vulnerable sections of society and awareness campaigns on the government welfare schemes to ensure outreach at the grassroots level.
The DC further directed the departments to integrate key initiatives such as Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” “Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam,” Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu and Kashmir, financial inclusion schemes and awareness programmes on water-borne diseases during the campaign.
Highlighting the wide range of activities planned, the DC informed that the fortnight would witness cleanliness and plantation drives, health check-up camps, blood donation camps, educational and IEC initiatives, workshops for vulnerable groups, sustainable practices and beautification campaigns. She added that extensive awareness about government schemes would be ensured through real-time monitoring, visual documentation and social media updates to promote transparency and mass participation.
Special emphasis was laid on the role of crucial departments including Rural Development, Health, Education, Municipal Council and Social Welfare. The DC instructed these departments to design and implement innovative programmes under flagship schemes so that their benefits percolate to the grassroots.
The DC directed all departments to prepare and submit their detailed action plans by this evening and urged them to work in close coordination to ensure active community involvement in all activities planned under Sewa Parv-2025.

Doda: District Panel approves 514 cases under Mission YUVA
DODA, SEPTEMBER 13: In a significant stride towards youth empowerment and employment generation, the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) today approved 514 loan cases under the Mission YUVA. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (Chairman DLIC Mission YUVA) Harvinder Singh.
With this latest approval, the cumulative number of sanctioned cases under Mission YUVA has reached 1396, which accounts for nearly 70% of the total applications received in the district — marking a milestone in fostering entrepreneurship, skill development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth of Doda.
The meeting was attended by DLIC members including Additional District Development Commissioner (Nodal Officer, Mission YUVA)Roshan Lal ; Deputy Director Employment, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral; General Manager, DIC Doda and others.
The session commenced with a comprehensive briefing by the Deputy Director Employment. He presented the latest status report of Mission YUVA in the district. The report included the number of applications received and verified on the Mission YUVA portal as well as the DPRs prepared and verified by Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) members.
Addressing the Committee, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated that Mission YUVA is not just a loan scheme but a holistic platform aimed at cultivating entrepreneurship, innovation, and self-reliance among the youth. He emphasized continuous capacity-building, mentoring, and handholding support, along with structured monitoring to ensure the sustainability of the sanctioned ventures.
Concluding the session, Deputy Director Employment extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to the Chair and all participating members, lauding their commitment, cooperation and dedicated efforts towards the successful ex*****on of Mission YUVA initiatives in Doda district.

DC Doda reviews essential services and road connectivity in Doda-Thathri
DODA, SEPTEMBER 12: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh today conducted a visit to Doda market to take stock of availability of essential supplies after giving relaxation of 2 hours for people to come out and get their supplies, etc. He interacted with Market Association and general public and assured them that all their issues and requirements shall be addressed on priority.
He also visited Kandhote in Thathri Subdivision to take stock of damages caused to NH-244 and power infrastructure due to massive landslides in the area.
Col (Retd) Ajay Thakur, GM NHIDCL briefed him about the ongoing restoration works and assured that the stretch shall be made roadworthy for ensuring that essential supplies be allowed.
The Deputy Commissioner further reviewed the supply chain mechanism and uninterrupted transit of essential commodities and supplies to the Kishtwar District and subdivisions of Thathri and Gandoh. The visit was aimed at restoring connectivity and power and maintaining uninterrupted supply of daily necessities and ensuring the smooth movement of people during the prevailing situation.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, Anil Thakur and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thathri, Sheetal Sharma.

DLIC approves 261 cases under Mission YUVA at Shopian
SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 11: The meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) under Mission YUVA was held today in Shopian under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta.
The meeting aimed to review and approve applications received under the Mission YUVA initiative, designed to foster youth entrepreneurship and self-employment.
A total of 261 applications verified by the SBDU, were presented for consideration. Following a comprehensive evaluation based on eligibility, business viability and the applicant's socio-economic background, all applications were approved for financial assistance and handholding support under the Mission YUVA framework.
Addressing the committee, DDC emphasized the vital role of self-employment in empowering youth, instructing all departments to ensure timely fund disbursement, robust monitoring and dedicated mentoring to guarantee the sustainability of the supported ventures.
During the meeting, DDC underscored the importance of expanding outreach activities, organizing awareness camps and conducting mobile registration drives to ensure the benefits of Mission YUVA reach every eligible youth in the district and said “Mission YUVA is not just a scheme, it is a movement to promote innovation, self-reliance and employment generation,”.
