"M is For Motion,” the band behind last years hit cover of the disco classic “Bourgie Bourgie” with Amuka, is back with two simultaneously released tracks, with remixes, from their upcoming Disco album, “A Night At Studio M”. A modern take on the iconic 1979 compilation ”A Night At Studio 54” released by Casablanca Records, ”A Night At Studio 54” featured 17 of the biggest disco & funk releases dominating the floors at Studio 54 and other iconic disco venues around the globe.
”A Night At Studio M,” looks to recreate that magic and expand on it. While many of the tracks on ”A Night At Studio 54” can still be heard on radio and dance floors today, thousands of gorgeous hits from that era have almost been forgotten 45 years later. "M is For Motion" has taken on the duty to reintroduce over 30 of those deeper cuts (and a few of aforementioned 17 hits) with many of today’s biggest dance divas. With album versions close to the original disco classic and house remixes for today’s younger audiences, each "M is For Motion" release will have something for everyone. Launching in time for Pride Month 2025 are two iconic Gloria Gaynor hits both from 1975, “Never Can Say Goodbye” with Debby Holiday and “How High the Moon” with Janice Robinson.
“Never Can Say Goodbye” with Debby Holiday arrives with 5 dance floor ready versions. The original disco version produced by MarkVDH delivers all the power and majesty of Gloria’s version, but with the deeper vocal tones and delivery that is quintessential Debby Holiday. Rafael M takes a decidedly pop/tech direction that combines the dark rhythms of big room tech with the pop sensibilities of the vocal. Fans of darker tech House will quickly gravitate to the Nick Bertossi remix that is awash in swirling vocals, infectious afro house rhythms, and uplifting stabs. Brazil's HENRIQMORAES is a master at taking pop tracks and turning them into hands-in-the-air festival ready anthems. And his mix of NCSG is sure to pack circuit parties and huge floors around the world. Rounding out the package is a remix by Industrial Badger. Driven by trance pianos and synths reminiscent of bands like Above & Beyond and Chicane, the Badger creates the perfect Sunrise in Ibiza remix.
“How High The Moon” with Janice Robinson and featuring Tomi Jones is a pure slice of vintage disco heaven. But it's origin is anything but dance. Originally a jazz standard from the 1940’s Broadway r***e “Two For The Show,” and a rare serious moment in an otherwise humorous show, “How High The Moon” became an instant standard. Over the 85 years since it's debut, “How High The Moon” has been re-recorded and released as "chart topping hits" by over 60 seminal artists including Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, June Christy, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Marvin Gaye, Sarah Vaughan, and Abbey Lincoln just to mention a few. But it was Gloria that first took it to the dance floor.
The Classic Disco Mix by M is for Motion's “How High The Moon” encapsulates the original spirit and joy Gloria brought to this rather serious track. However Janice Robinson adds a fervor and passion with her interpretation that will raise spirits on the dance floor. And three additional mixes help to bring this unconventional track to modern dance floors.
The UK's Until Dawn are the powerhouse remix producers behind some of the 2000's biggest dance floors hits for P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Lisa Stansfield, Bananarama, Carly Rae Jepson, Agnes, Ava Max, Dannii, and most recently Chappel Roan's hit "Super Graphic Ultra Modern." Cooking up their special blend of fat house beats, big string arrangements, and infectious stabs, the Until Dawn mix is a powerful peak time remix. Australia's Division 4, known for his smooth piano rhythms and thick pulsating baselines, blends that sound with classic disco rhythms to create a velvety summer dance floor and poolside remix. The Industrial Bader delivers a big bass-heavy sexy tech mix that is a late night departure from the disco and house versions.
