Time Correction: We’re Coming Back with a LIVE, Podcast from on Saturday, July 5th, 2025 4PM-6PM. “We’re back. After a 10 month pause of the Jer and Gel Podcast — this one’s personal!
Life came at us fast. Jer went through a heart ablation, Not a life threatening surgery but the fears were still very real. Especially for Gel — not because our marriage was at risk, but because she’s lived the pain of losing a husband before. That fear hit hard.
We faced unexpected debt, stress, exhaustion — and the kind that doesn’t just go away with sleep. It lingers. Some days, it still lingers.
But we kept choosing us. We kept showing up. And now we have the strength and opportunity to come back with more experience and a fresh example of how to overcome and stay connected.

The Importance of Engaging with Your Teen

Navigating the chaos of adult life, it can be hard to find the time and energy to truly listen to your teen. It’s easy to get caught up in our own world and forget to be fully present. My wife often takes a few minutes in the garage to unwind, a break many of us need to recharge. But during this time, we might hear our teens but not genuinely engage with them.

Being on the other end of a conversation with an unresponsive listener can be disheartening. It’s crucial to actively listen and engage with our teens. Remember, the years fly by, and the time to make a meaningful impact in their lives seems to grow shorter. Don’t pressure yourself into thinking you’re failing as a parent. Instead, take a moment to pause, listen, and be present. Every conversation is an opportunity to connect and make a difference.
