🎙️ New Desperate for a Diagnosis Podcast Episode:
Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy: What Your Doctor Didn’t Tell You (But Should Have)

May is Pelvic Health Awareness Month and on my latest podcast episode, I sit down with pelvic floor physical therapist Alina Gur to debunk the myths and misunderstandings surrounding pelvic floor therapy.

We talk about:
✅ Why so many women with pelvic pain are dismissed or misdiagnosed for up to six years
✅ How pelvic floor dysfunction affects more than just postpartum women
✅ The real signs you might need pelvic floor PT (even if your doctor hasn’t mentioned it)
✅ What therapy actually involves from breathing techniques to trauma-informed care
✅ Why access is still a huge barrier for patients

If you’ve ever been told “everything looks fine” while still feeling like something is wrong, this episode is for you.

💥 A therapist gave a couple ecstasy…
Then stayed to coach them through s*x.
And yes—he thought it was therapeutic.

This isn’t fiction. It’s a real case from attorney Scott Hammer, who’s defended thousands of mental health professionals. In this episode of Desperate for a Diagnosis, he shares what happens when therapy becomes dangerous—and what it costs everyone involved.

🧠 This is what happens when boundaries collapse.

Thank you Laura Bennett London!!

When you are alone and have a heart attack. What are you gonna do then ?
A rarely good post that can't be shared often enough:

1. Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.

2. You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.

3. Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..

4. Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.

5. How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.

6. But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.

7. Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment

8. Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.

9. FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.

Instead of posting jokes, you're helping save lives by spreading this message.

You have a story...one that comes with many twists and plotlines.

Twists are tricky. You don't see them coming. Some might spice up your life and others, well, you don't wish them on anyone. You can only control what you can control. You can control how you act and feel, and how you move through to the next chapter. But you can also rewrite your story.

When it comes to your health, you can rewrite your story. Did you know that your lifestyle choices can actually influence how your genes behave?

We often think of our DNA as a fixed blueprint, but through epigenetics, our behaviors like diet, exercise, stress management, sleep, and even avoiding toxins can actually turn genes on or off! How you ask? Here are some tips...

🍍 Eating healthy foods (like broccoli and berries)
🏃‍♀️Exercising regularly
🧘‍♀️ Managing stress with things like meditation or yoga
😴 Getting good sleep
🍷 Avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol

This may all positively change how your genes express 😜🫤 themselves, potentially lowering your risk for diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

In fact, research shows that while your genetics contribute to about 20–30% of your lifespan, 70–80% is determined by your lifestyle and environment! 🤯

And a study of over 350,000 people found that healthy habits cut the risk of early death by 62%, no matter their genetic risk.

Bottom line: You have way more control than you think. Small daily choices = big changes in your long-term health.

Your genes load the gun, but your lifestyle pulls the trigger. 🔥

In celebration 😁 , (yes, I said celebration) of Oprah Winfrey's Special: "The Menopause Revolution," from Monday night 3/31/25, I am re-launching my Desperate for a Diagnosis Podcast episode with Z. Colette Edwards, MD MBA Founder of Pausitive Health as we discuss all things menopause. We discuss the "stigma" of this season of life, particularly in the workplace, and the lack of education doctors of all specialties receive in medical school about the signs and symptoms of menopause and how to treat it. And let's not forget about the millions of women who have been dismissed by their physicians implying that their symptoms are "all their heads."

Renowned Mary Claire Haver, MD lists over 60 signs of menopause in her book "The New Menopause Navigating Your Path Through Hormonal Change with Purpose, Power, and the Facts." Looking at this list, I NOW know that I wasn't losing my mind and dying. But in the past several years, not one single doctor could help me figure out my body and joint pain, severe fatigue, panic attacks and more. I spent thousands of dollars trying to get answers too be told "there's nothing wrong with you." I did my own research and luckily, I am better with the help of some smart doctors I finally found. All the more reason you need to be your own advocate!
