A legal battle is playing out this week between an artificial intelligence company and a grieving mom claiming her 14-year-old son took his life over being in love with an AI chatbot.

“I miss him all the time, constantly,” said the mother, Megan Garcia, of her late son Sewell Setzer III.

That scene—of defendants Character Technologies and Google asking on Tuesday for Garcia’s lawsuit against them to be dismissed in an Orlando courtroom—serves as the chilling backdrop for an urgent new warning issued by safety nonprofit Common Sense Media.

Tina Knowles, mother of Beyonce and Solange and author of a just-released memoir, revealed this week that she had been treated for stage 1 breast cancer last July.

She noted how lucky she felt to have had the cancer discovered early after initially forgetting to reschedule a mammogram that had been canceled due to COVID.

Knowles—who had surgery to remove the tumor, along with a breast reduction—was even more regretful of having delayed her mammogram when she learned there was a breast cancer stage that came before stage 1.

Knowles is certainly not alone in not knowing about stage 0 cancer—though it’s something that accounts for about 20% of all new breast cancer diagnoses.

“Our purpose is to power an inclusive future for all,” Kelly Jones, Cisco chief people officer, says of the importance of encouraging volunteerism to build a strong company culture. “It lives right in the center of our purpose.”

Michelle Obama and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are not exactly two peas in a pod—but the two do think alike when it comes to at least one issue: highly processed foods and their effect on the health of children.

Obama, while appearing as a guest on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast in an episode that aired on Thursday, looked back at her FLOTUS “Let’s Move” campaign, which aimed to fight obesity by highlighting nutrition and exercise for kids.

“I thought, there’s no way that anyone is going to take issue with trying to make school lunches healthier, getting kids more active, really just trying to make the next generation healthier than ours. And boy, was I wrong,” she said.
